Mr. Robert "Bobby" Black

Obituary Robert "Bobby" Black, 78, was born to William and Beatrice Black on April 20, 1943 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert Ricky Black, three brothers, Leonard Black, Steven Black and Jeremiah Black, two sisters, Yolanda Black and Bonita Weems, three grandsons, Brian Starr, Lonnie Black and DeAndre Cortez Black and granddaughter, Angel Renee Rolf. Bobby grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended the public schools. After high school he joined the U. S. Army in 1965 and served until 1969. He furthered his education in college studying accounting. Bobby was employed at Unites States Post office for over 30 plus years, where he retired. Bobby met the love of his life Bessie at the Hereford Steak House in downtown Kansas City. They married in 1965 and went on to share 51 years of wedding bliss and to this union five children, seventeen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Bessie also preceded him in death. In 2017 he remarried to Mary McClellan; she also preceded him in death. Bobby accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He was long time member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where he was known as Deacon Black. He served on several committees throughout the church. He was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher, served on the Board of Trustees, Church Treasury, sang in the Male Mass and Mission Choir, a NEA Layman, sang in the NEA Choir and Male Choir, and on the Board of the Annual Wild Game Dinner at St. Paul. He was thee former Chairman of the Deacon Board, former President of the Laymen, former Superintendent of Sunday School and in the New Era District. Bobby had a love for fishing, hunting, gardening and most of all he loved spending time with his family. Bobby departed this life on June 28, 2021 at his home. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beautiful children, Percy James Black (Phyllis), Barbara Black, Charlene Killingsworth (Anthony Dwon) and Joyce Black; four brothers, William Black (Theresa), Ronald Black (Mila), Charles Black (Annette) and Andrew Black (Nicola); four sisters, Florene Washington (Maurice), Joyce Black, Gwendolyn Willis and Lenore Black; a host grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, 12:00pm at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Monday, July 12th, 11:00am Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS.
