Ritha Diane Hergins

Obituary Ritha D. (Andrews) Hergins, was born November 10, 1963, to the union of Richard and Mildred Andrews in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born into this world with her beloved identical twin sister, Rita Andrews. She was the fifth child out of six children born to their union. Ritha accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Canaan Worship Center. She fought a long nine-year battle with cancer and took her walk to glory peacefully in the comfort of her loved ones on January 23, 2018. Her parents and her brother, Richard Andrews, III, preceded her in death. Ritha attended and graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked at the Internal Revenue Service for thirty years and was a very dedicated and hard worker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Ritha loved watching reality shows and soap operas. She spent countless hours on the phone talking with her twin about anything and everything. They loved to shop together (shopped until they dropped-locked inside the mall), dress together, and even dressed their children alike. She was a fashionista and loved Interior Designing. Her family named her Martha Stewart. She took countless trips with her family and close friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She always looked forward to family functions. She also loved designer bags and jewelry. She had a loving heart and loved her family. She spent many years battling cancer. She always made the best of her prognosis. She never had a down moment and always fought her hardest. She showed the true heart of a fighter, “Never giving up”. Ritha D. (Andrews) Hergins memory will be cherished by her husband, Kenneth W. Hergins, Sr.; children: Kenisha Andrews, Kandice Hergins; Keyara Hergins (Jazmyne), and Kenneth W Hergins Jr.; she leaves behind her darling three grandchildren who loved her dearly: Montoryon Harris, Jr., Montez Harris, and Mariah Harris; her beloved identical twin sister, Rita Andrews (Dwight); three older sisters: Sharon Shelby, Brenda Chatman of Kansas City, Missouri, and Glenda “Punch” (Larry) Tuggle of Grandview, Missouri; a very special niece and cousin who were like her sisters, Denise Shelby Anderson and Bonita Watkins; she leaves behind her darling God-daughter, Detra Andrews; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. (Andrews) Hergins will be held Saturday, February 3, 11:00 a.m. at Canaan Worship Center, 1101 E. Bannister Road. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Funeral Chapel, 1800 E.
