Obituary CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF RICHARD ALLEN BOOKERSunrise 8-27-1956 Sunset 03-16-2023The Daylight of Richard Allen Booker began on August 27, 1956. Richard was born at General Hospital #2 in Kansas City MO. The sixth child of Gladys (Taylor) Booker and Calvin Booker.The sun set on his life March 16, 2023. The birthday of his mother; whom had proceeded him in death.Richard was raised in the greater Kansas City area where he attended Sandford B. Ladd, Martin Luther King Jr. and Central High School. After Highschool. he attended Mingo Job Corp in Puxico Missouri. While a student there; he excelled in his trade and became a Master Welder. From there he accepted employment at Mason Steel in Decatur, Illinois.After returning to Kansas City; Richard was of service to Kansas City in many capacities. He served as a truck driver for Truman Medical Center, a bus driver for Ryder School Bus Services and finally Kansas City International Airport until his health began to fail. Richard also attended New Beginning Fellowship Church in Kansas City, MO.Richard was united in marriage to Ms. Charlotte Hurt and to this union he welcomed two daughters Rechieta and Lorraine Booker. At the same time, he became the stepfather to Ursula, Jackie, Robert, Dorothy, Alice and Alison. Richard and Charlotte later divorced but remained friends over the years. Later, Richard and Sheila Wood welcomed a daughter Hannah Wood. Richard came from a very extended family and has stayed in touch with his children’s mothers over the years.Richard was preceded in death by his parents Gladys and Calvin Booker Sr, a brother Leon Booker, two sisters Charlene Cason and Sheila Hurt, two grandsons Xavier Williams and Deshawn Dudley, a stepdaughter Jackie Woodson, four brother in laws: Jesse T. Collins Jr., Damon Pearson, Maurice Cason, Eddie Hurt and nephew Calvin Booker.He leaves in Gods loving care his daughters Rechieta Booker, Lorraine Booker Wiley (Adrian), Hannah Wood, Ursula Hurt, Dorothy, Alice and Alison Locks and a son Robert Woodson. Nine grandchildren Ricky Booker, Anastasia Roberson, Malachi Williams, Ja’Vionah Tucker, Qua’vion Tucker, Caleesia Booker, De’Asia Booker, De’Ron Dixon and Maria Locks. One uncle Spencer Taylor, Four sisters Gladys Collins, Joyce Pearson, Betty Booker and Shirley Harbor. Three Brothers Leroy Booker, Micah Booker and Calvin Booker Jr. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.The Family of Richard A, Booker would like to thank each and every one for your many acts of kindness extended to us at this difficult time.
