Ms. Porcia C. Hudson

Porcia Celeste Harris-Hudson was born October 16, 1958, to Herbert and Sylvia Harris in Saragosa, Spain. She was the second and only girl of four children. Porcia was preceded in death by her father, Herbert R. Harris (2022), her maternal grandparents Donald(1968) and Linnie Cotton(2001), and her paternal grandparents Herbert Harris(1980) and Jamie Harris (2005). Porcia attended military school throughout her elementary and junior school years. The family settled in Kansas City, Kansas where she attended and graduated from Schlagle High School in 1976. She was baptized at King Solomon Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W.C. West. Porcia married Broderick Hudson and from the union, Caleb Hudson was born. Her greatest and most joyful and proudest moment next to Caleb was the birth of her grandson Benaiah Glenroy Charles Hudson. Porcia inherited the attitude of hard work. She was a “Jackie of All Trades”. She moved to Los Angeles where she worked as an Insurance Administrator. Her passion in life was to care for others. She worked as a CNA at the Loman-Linda Hospital. The medical staff greatly appreciated her tireless work and contributions to the medical field. She moved to San Bernardino, California where she worked as a sales representative at Kohl’s retailers until she became disabled and health prevented her from working. She supplemented her income with her entrepreneurial skills and spirit. She used her God-given gifts and talents to bring joy to others by creating various projects such as knitted sweaters and paper-mache graphics for seasonal decorations. She canned fruit and vegetables, and baked bread to hand out to friends and neighbors. She created special baskets for baby showers, weddings, and birthday gifts. Her variety baskets were used by various businesses as promotional advertisements. Porcia was an imaginative “Go-Getter.” She leaves to celebrate her home going her mother Sylvia A. Harris, Kansas City, KS; one son Caleb Hudson (Breana), one grandson Benaiah, San Bernardino, CA three brothers , Herbert B. Harris (Linda) Kansas City, MO, Clayburn Harris, Kansas City, KS. David Harris, Los Angeles, CA; three nephews Elijah Harris, Gabriel Harris, Austin, TX, Brandon Harris, Kansas City, MO; three nieces, Tamala Harris, Kansas City, MO, Natasha Harris, Denmark, Latisha Badart Springfield, MO; a host of cousins other relatives and friends. “Porcia” known to her colleagues and friends, “Celeste” known to her cousins, and “Les” known to Mama, Daddy, and brothers. Funeral services Tuesday, February18, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church-Quindaro. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation 10:00am-11:00am at the church.
