Ms. Pearlie Mae ((Woodley)) Allen

Obituary Pearlie Mae Allen was born on December 29, 1938 in Tunica, Mississippi to the parents of Pecolia and Clifton Woodley. She was the sixth of eight children born into this union. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers Clifton Woodley, Jr., Robert Woodley, Jesse Woodley and Jimmy Woodley; sister, Buelah Moore; sons Cecil Allen and Terrance Allen. As a youth Pearlie confessed Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She used her Christian teachings to influence others. Pearlie was a soprano tenor with the “Silvertones” gospel group in Tunica, Mississippi which consisted of her sisters and cousins. Her personality and charisma drew people to her and she was the light of the room. She enjoyed telling jokes. Pearlie was an employee for Allied Signal, formerly Bendix in Kansas City, Missouri for over 15 years where she retired in 1997. She was well liked by peers and coworkers and left a lasting impression with them. In January 1995, Pearlie and her eldest daughter Doris Allen had the opportunity to rescue two members of the Harlem Globetrotters escape from a large crowd of autograph seekers at a local shopping mall. Can you imagine two seven-feet basketball players inside a small vehicle? Transporting them back to their hotel safely, receiving two unexpected tickets for the scheduled game that night. She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing: sisters, Christine Smith of West Helena, AR and Dorothy Woodley of Kansas City, MO; sister-in law, Robery Woodley of Kansas City, MO; son, Roger Allen, Jr. (Patricia) of Columbia, MO; daughters, Doris Allen, Lenell Allen and Marchall Allen, special daughter Nancy Allen all of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Monique Fugate (Shawn) of Columbia, MO, Terrance Allen, Jr. (Andrea) of Huntsville, AL, Kayla Brown of St. Louis, MO, Roger Allen, III, Kiera Brown and Micheal Brown all of Kansas City, MO, special friends, Dr. Thomas and Katherine Holder, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022, 11am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the chapel.
