Ola Mae Fielder

Obituary Ola Mae Fielder was a woman who loved God and her family. Born on June 29, 1928, in Camden, Mississippi. She was the second oldest of three children. They were the children of the late Mary Irene Montgomery and James F. Nichols. A longtime resident of Kansas City, Missouri, she passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Tuesday evening, November 3, 2020 at the Vines Senior Homes, Elgin, Illinois. Ola received her early education in Jackson Mississippi and completed her education in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School District. She met her husband of 50 years, Romalis R. Fielder at a house birthday party of her sister-in-law to be in Kansas City, Missouri. Ola and her husband accepted Christ into their lives at the 14th Street Church of Christ. She was a member of the 73rd Street Church of Christ and had previously attended the Swope Parkway Church of Christ. In 2011, she relocated to Elgin, IL to live with her daughter, Joyce and worshiped with the Cardinal Drive Church of Christ in Rolling Meadows IL. She was very caring to family and known for being witty, highly intelligent, high standards of living and very caring about the health and welfare of her family and others. Her pastimes were reading, gardening, cooking, sewing, crafts and ceramics. She worked at Western Electric as a technician and later worked for the Social Security and Veterans Administrations. She retired from the Veterans Administration having clerical and administrative responsibilities. Preceding her in death are her husband, Romalis R. Fielder, brother, Robert L. Nichols, sister, Ida M. Lovett, and grandson, Bryan Fielder. She is survived by two sisters, Karen Stewart and Sandra Stemmons both of Kansas City, MO, her four daughters, Wanda Oliver (Reginald) of Glen Burnie, MD, Joyce Cunningham (Wesley) of Elgin, IL, Carmen Fielder and Gwendolyn Turner both of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Alysia Rowe, Rashida Colon, Amber Turner, Ashley Turner, and Curtis Turner and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Saturday, November 14th at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Linwood Chapel C.
