Mr. Nathan L. Wash

Nathan Lewis Wash was born on May 9, 1959 to Henderson Wash and Ernestine (Foster) Wash in Kansas City, Kansas . He is preceded in death by his parents, Henderson and Ernestine Wash, and sister, Anita McKeithen. He attended Central High School from 1974-1978. Upon graduation in 1978 he pursued an extended career in the military. In October of 1978, Nathan enlisted in the army. He worked finance at Fort Lee before going overseas to finance in Germany and France. He then came back to the states where he continued his role in finance for the National Guard. Nathan retired in 2006, and moved back to Kansas City, Missouri where his home and heart was. He accept Christ at an early age and was a member of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. He started working for City-Wide Maintenance and became an avid member of their union, SEIU Local #1. He also volunteered time and service to Planned Parenthood advocating on behalf of women’s biological and medical rights. Nathan loved his family, his favorite memories had to do with family, from loading up the station wagon and going on family vacation as kids in the summer, remembering the rational, levelhandedness of his father, or even watching his mother make and (of course) eating sweet potato pie, he was family centered and cherished his family. Nathan showed compassion to everyone he encountered. He had a way of talking to someone and making them feel better than they did before, even if they felt good. He was caring, loving, and empathetic. He would give his last to help someone in need. He also had a very inquisitive mind. From dissecting crime shows and puzzles, to creating his own his meticulous way of organizing, he remained hungry to learn new things and expand his vast intellect. Nathan departed this life on December 17, 2023, at the home. He is survived by his brothers, Felix Wash and Samuel Wash (Carleen Wash), and his nieces and nephew, Tanasha Barner (Taneiah Allen), RaKiyha Wash (DeMarcus Wash and Ai’Rein Dantzler), Ryan Wash, Leeyah and Leisha McKeithen, and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5, 2024, 12:00pm at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am-12:00pm at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
