Ms. Nannie Mae Williams

Nannie Mae Williams, 85, was born on July 26, 1939 in Prescott, Arkansas to Marvin Smith and Varrie Harris-Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, step-father, Otis Young, husband, Wesley Willams, Jr., daughter, Linda Jean Snowden, sister, Darlene Green, two brothers, Odell Young and Darnell Young, and two nephews, Jerome Green and David Elmore. Nannie was educated in the public schools of Prescott, Arkansas and received her diploma. She relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 1958. She was a member of Rescue Baptist Church under Pastor W. T Bland and was the church secretary for over 40 years. She was a member of the Blue Hills Neighborhood Association of Kansas City, Missouri. Nannie was united in marriage to Wesley Williams, Jr. on September 20, 1965. They were married 45 years before he preceded her in death. She was a manager at Putsch’s Cafeteria for many years and worked at Mobil Fone Paging Equipment and retired from both. Nannie was a caring and giving person. She had unwavering love and kindness that was extended to everyone. Her home was always a welcoming place and she made everyone feel like family. She knew how to listen, comfort and give great advice. Her wisdom and guidance were invaluable. She was a prominent role model throughout the community and took pride in serving the Lord and others. She departed this life on September 27, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory, four sisters, Bonnie Marie Smith (GA), Hattie Marie Young (MO), Annette Young (MO), Lois Jean Elmore (TX); a brother, Benny Ray Young (Lydia) (VA); two granddaughters, Lakiesha Rankin (TX) and April Snowden (TX); three great grandsons, Kenneth Joshua Roberson (TX), Demetrius Rankin (TX), Demarcus Rankin (TX); a great great- granddaughter, Karsyn ‘Boss Lady’ Roberson (TX); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and a great grand dog, Dallas. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, 11am at Rescue Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 11, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the church and Saturday from 10:00am-11:00am at the church. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel.
