Mrs. Dorothy Wyatt

Mrs. Dorothy Wyatt was born September 3, 1932, in Altheimer, Arkansas. Both of her parents (Lucy Mae and Josh Kearney), her spouse (Bernell Wyatt), one sister (Erma Harris), one son (Steven E. Wyatt) and one daughter (Valerie L. Evans), preceded her in death. Mrs. Wyatt accepted Christ at an early age. She exemplified Christianity in her daily walk, not only to family and friends but to strangers as well. She was baptized and has been a member of Blessed Sacrament and St. Monica’s Parishes for more than 60 years. Dorothy received her formal education in Kansas City. Dorothy was one of the first Black Electronic Consultants hired by Macy’s, where she worked for 29 years before retiring. She also was employed by Dillard’s. Dorothy and Bernell were married for 48 years and were blessed with ten children. Dorothy was an excellent cook and loved preparing lasagna, banana pudding, and fried pies which were family favorites. She was also an avid bowler for many years, and she enjoyed playing dominoes, pokeno, bid whist, backgammon and other games with family and friends. Mrs. Wyatt family was her greatest joy and the light of her life. We will remember her compassion, love and kindness which radiated from her very soul. She was loved and will be missed by many. The Book Life was closed for Dorothy Wyatt, on Monday, October 16, 2023. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: Five sons, Ronald E. Wyatt (Therese) of Houston Texas, Gary B. Wyatt (Cleaster) of Kansas City, MO, Michael L. Wyatt of O’Fallon MO, Kenneth Wyatt (Gladys) of Kansas City, MO, Paul L. Wyatt (Beverly) of Austin, Texas; Three daughter, Linda J. Johnson (Larry) of Liberty MO, Deborah A. Pledger (Mark) of Grain Valley, MO, Sherry L. Wyatt-Waller (Amando) of Lakeside, CA; One Brother, Josh Kearney II (Lisa) of Kansas City, MO; One sister, Venita James of New York, NY; Twenty-one grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023, 11am at St. Monica Parish. Interment Blue Ridge Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am-10:45am at the church.
