Mr. Michael W. Stevenson

Michael Stevenson, age 43, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on March 5, 2026. He was born January 30, 1983, in Kansas City, MO and was raised by his mother, Elaine Stevenson. Michael attended school in the Kansas City, MO school district and graduated from Southeast High School. His most recent employer was Home Depot. There, he was a stocker and helper to his fellow employees. He was physically strong and was a good match for his job until a health challenge made it impossible to continue working. Despite the many obstacles in his life, he learned how to cope and persevere as was his mother’s example. Just as she did, “Bear” as he was affectionately known, would do anything to help others. Michael shared his gifts with others; his personality, good sense of humor and all-around nice person who would help whenever he could. He loved playing video games and tinkering with electronics and although it was just a hobby, he was helpful to those who needed something fixed. Big or small, from a little CD player to computers to televisions, he could usually figure out the problem, and many times fix it. Unlike some who would take something apart and not put it back together, Michael had the gift and used it. He was a sports fan and enjoyed cheering for his hometown teams, the Chiefs and Royals, whether they had winning or losing seasons. Michael lived the last several years with his uncle, Lester Stevenson and Lester’s wife, Paulette. There he received shelter, care, and support with the essentials of life and family connections. He especially enjoyed his last birthday celebration with the special foods and treats prepared for him as he turned forty-three. Michael Stevenson is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Stevenson, grandparents, aunts, and other family members. He is survived by brothers, Devin Handy, and Mark Davis, uncles Lester Stevenson (Paulette) and William Stevenson, cousins, Walter Jackson and Bonita Stevenson and a host of loving family and friends. A Memorial Service for Michael Stevenson will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 2:00 pm at St. Therese Little Flower Parish, 5814 Euclid Ave, Kansas City, MO (enter church at the corner of 58th and Euclid), followed by a Luncheon and fellowship with family and friends.
