Mrs. Melvin Armstrong

Melvin Louise Armstrong was born on January 30, 1949 in Wilmot, Arkansas to the late O’Dell J. and Eula V. Bankston. She departed this life on March 30, 2026, at Conway Regional Hospital in Conway, Arkansas. She was surrounded by her husband, close family and friends and a team of wonderful doctors and nurses. Melvin is proceeded in death by her late Husband Jim Sankfield, her sisters: Erma Cole, Pearline Parker, Earnestine Bankston, Delois Bankston, brothers: James Bankston, Curtin Bankston and Fred Bankston and nephew, Andre Grant. Melvin attended Wilmot Slack LeGrand Highschool and graduated in 1968. Also, she attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She was employed by General Electric Credit Service Catalog Department for 30 years. After retiring Melvin became a license day care provider for 25 years. She loved working with children and gave them amazing care. Melvin always greeted the parents with a big smile on her face. Melvin met the love of her life Cecil Armstrong, and they were united in holy matrimony on September 3, 2016. She moved to Greenbrier, Arkansas after marriage. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Also, she loved celebrating the holidays where she would cook and invite family over for dinner. If asked what to bring for dinner, she would say bring yourself. Melvin was a sweet and loving person. Her beautiful smile would light up everything in the room. Melvin attended Solomon Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Twin Groves, Arkansas under the leadership of Pastor Willie Johnson. She loved church and was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Melvin leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband for 9 years Cecil Armstrong of Greenbrier, Arkansas. Six daughters Luerona (Ben) Kansas City, MO, Sharon (Karl) Kansas City, MO, Angela (Curtis)Cincinnati, Ohio, Kim (Damon) Grandview, MO, Antoinette (Josh) Raytown, MO, and Lakeyshia, Kansas City, MO. Three sisters; Lillie of Little Rock, AR, Betty (Anthony) Santa Rosa, CA, Sandra (Vincent) Grandview, MO. Two brothers; Norman (Norma) Santa Rosa, CA, Alfred (Elaine) Santa Rosa, CA. Two Aunties; Cynthia and Pearline. Two uncles Matthew, Freddie Lee. A special friend, Geri of Grandview, MO. Seven Grandchildren, four Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends who will miss her dearly. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment: Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation from 10 - 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel.
