Mrs. Melonee Gilmore

Melonee passed peacefully from this life June 9th in her home. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Melonee was born in Kansas City, Mo. Melonee retired enjoying life with God, her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Melonee was a daycare provider. She loved her family. Melonee could sing. She loved to 2 step and listen to the oldies but goodies, especially Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson. She also loved to listen to gospel artists Smokie Norful and Shirley Caesar. Her hobbies were knitting and crossword puzzles. Melonee would say what was on her mind, she loved to call men Kunta’s and the women dingbats. She was a great mother, wife, grandmother (Big Ma’am), auntie, sister and friend. Melonee loved God and attended Come to Jesus Worship and Praise Church with her daughter (pastor Brandy Carter). Melonee knew how to make you laugh, and she never had a problem with feeding you or giving you a place to stay. She would give her last, her shirt off her back. She was a giver at heart. Melonee will be truly missed by all and never forgotten. Melonee is survived by three children: LaFrance’ Johnson, Paul Cornelius (Cherrelle), Brandy Carter (Albert) 2 bonus daughters, Artina Hyman (Charles) Triniki Nelson eight grandchildren total but three special ones: Van Bolton (Moonter), Alfonsia Scott (Molly), Alfonsio Scott II (Fat Cat). Three great grandchildren, one special on the way Alonzo Scott. Plus 4 bonus grandchildren. One brother Jeffery Cornelius of Kansas City, 2 brothers from Arkansas, 4 sisters Karen Cornelius, Betty Brown 1 sister from Arkansas and 1 sister from Kansas City area. She was preceded in death by her mother Agnes Cornelius, dad Fred Hall, husband Johnny Gilmore, her son Bryant Cornelius, brothers Tommie and Dawayne Cornelius, sister Robin Cornelius. She leaves to cherish a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, 11:00am at the Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation from 9:00am-11:00am at the chapel. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolence may be shared on our website.
