Mother Mary L. Lowe

Mary L. Lowe, passed away on June 20, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center. Mary Henderson was born to Anna Henderson and Gee Owens February 11, 1935, in Sparkman, AR. She was a very vibrant and loving child. She was educated in Sparkman, AR and completed 2 years of college. She was saved in the Church of God in Christ in Sparkman, AR in 1948. She moved to Warren, AR in 1950, where she united with the Power House Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Elder Louis Cooks. She served faithfully. On September 24, 1951, she married James Lowe in Warren, AR. She became a mother to his 5 children and to their union two sons were born, Charles Edward and Matthew Lowe. Deacon James and Mother Mary Lowe were married for 57 years. The family moved to Kansas City, MO in June 1957. They united with Mason Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles Pleas, the late Bishop William McDonald and Bishop Lemuel Thuston. Mother Lowe served the church faithfully with her husband Deacon Lowe. She was a member of Mason Temple for 69 years. She served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, President of the Prayer and Bible Band and Church Mother. Mother Lowe was an extraordinary singer, she was known as the “church songbird”, she would often represent the church by singing at local, district and state services. Mother Lowe worked at Swope Health Systems as a Medical Records Clerk for over 20 years until her retirement. Mother Lowe enjoyed fellowshipping with the saints, helping and serving faithfully in the church. She loved God with all of her heart. She loved to study the Sunday School lesson, read and share the Word of God. She would instill Godly principles and wisdom in her children and grandchildren by taking them to church even if she and her family were the only ones there. Mother Mary Lowe passed peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital. She is preceded in death by her mother Anna Henderson, her father Gee Owens, husband Deacon James Lowe, children James Lowe Jr., Mary Hooker, Lee Lowe, Robert Lowe, Drossie Ratliff, and Charles Lowe Sr., daughter in law, Lennie Lowe, sisters Eara Wesley, Alve Brownell, Nancy Wright and Johnnie Mae Burks. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Matthew Lowe of Kansas City, KS, daughter in law, Janice Lowe of Kansas City, MO. 3 sisters, Daisy Nevels and Freddie Jean Henderson of Kansas City, MO, and Dorthy Henderson of Milwaukee, WI. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family. Mother Mary Lowe fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith. Great is her reward in Heaven. Her life and legacy will forever be remembered. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday June 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mason Temple Institutional COGIC 554 Washington Blvd. KCKS 66101.
