Obituary Marquette Morgan, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother cousin, and friend. She left this world on May 13, 2022 at the age of 91 years old. She was born August 1, 1930 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to George Martin and Faustina Parker Martin. The eldest of six and only girl, she was raised in Muskogee and Porter Oklahoma with her five brothers George Jr., Jimmie Martin, Tommie Miller, Henry Dean and Jack Dean. Marquette attended school in both Porter and Muskogee Oklahoma. She accepted Christ at an early age. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church. In 1951, Marquette moved to Kansas City, Kansas and later to Kansas City Missouri (in 1956) with former spouse Harvey Mills Jr. This former union blessed her with five children Thomas(Tem), Linda, Laura, Gladys and Karen. Her union to husband William Morgan expanded her family to include stepsons Dustin, Justin, Brandon and Isaiah Morgan. Marquette was a gifted seamstress and quilter; throughout her life she enjoyed serving her many clients. She also had a heart for education; serving as a Scout Leader, Health Chairman at her children’s junior high school and was an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) member. Her career spanned working for companies such as Western Electric and Sam Walton’s Warehouse; she concluded her professional career with the Kansas City Missouri School District as a teacher’s assistant. Upon retirement, Marquette moved to Europe living with her youngest daughter and son-in-law in Germany. During her time living in Europe, she enjoyed traveling to Amsterdam, France and Italy. Upon returning stateside Marquette spent time residing in Palestine Texas, Kansas City, Missouri, Sun City, Arizona and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marquette was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Linda J. Lucas, brothers George Martin Jr., Jimmie Martin, Henry Dean Sr., and Jack Dean. Left to cherish memories of Marquette are her husband William Morgan, son Tem Mills (Fairfield, California), Laura Harris (Flemington, New Jersey), Gladys (Michael) Cleaver, and Karen West (and son-in-law Curtis) of Kansas City, Missouri, brother Tommie Miller of Oakland, California. Grandchildren Michelle(Ricky) Jones of Surprise, Arizona, Renata Mills of Portland, Oregan, Dionne(Daniel)Jones, KCMO, Tonya(Anthony) Crompton, KCMO, Nakedra(Dwayne)Campbell, Spring,Texas,Jarod Lucas,KCMO, Curtis West, KCMO, Keiyana West, KCMO, along with numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren,nieces,nephews, family and friends. Funeral services Thursday, May 26, at 11:00am at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation 9am-11am at the church.
