Ms. Marian Frances Hayes

Marian F. Hayes was born on March 7, 1936, in Sedalia, Missouri, the beloved daughter of Edward E. Black and Janie Stapleton Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E. Hayes; her sister, Dorthene Williams Ivey; and her daughter, Deborah Ivey Glass. A 1954 graduate of Lincoln Hubbard High School in Sedalia, Missouri, Marian was united in marriage to William Eugene Hayes on June 12, 1955. Though a native of Sedalia, she spent the majority of her life in Kansas City. Marian was a dedicated public servant, beginning her career at the Money Order Center before serving as a Window Clerk for the United States Postal Service. After 35 years of loyal service, she retired from the USPS on October 2, 1992. Marian was a devoted member of Concord Fortress of Hope Church for over 25 years. Before the pandemic, she served with the Senior Ministry Outreach program, where she dedicated her time assisting with meal preparation, backpacking for youth and community activities. In her leisure time, Marian found joy in gathering with family and friends to play cards, laugh, sing, and dance. She was an avid jewelry lover and shopper who never missed a beat or sale, an enthusiast for crappie fishing at the lake, and someone who found joy in holiday baking. Above all, she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Marian F. Hayes entered eternal peace on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at the age of 89 at her home in Kansas City, MO. Marian was a kind and giving person, loved by many, and will be greatly missed. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted sons Gregory E. Hayes (Joyce) and Jeffery E. Hayes; four grandchildren Tiffany Staley (Steffon), Brandon Hayes, Brittany Wilkerson (Tremaine) and Ashely Hayes; all of Kansas City, MO. Partner Terry Neves of Kansas City, MO and eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild many nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of loving friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Concord Fortress of Hope Church 11050 Longview Parkway KCMO 64134. Interment: Mount Moriah Cemetery.
