Mrs. Marceline "Marcy" Caldwell

Obituary First Lady Marceline Charlesetta Freeman Woods-Caldwell was born on April 12, 1947, to Maurice Charles Freeman Sr. and Emma Lee Cooper Freeman. "Marcy" grew up in Kansas City, MO, and attended St. Monica Catholic School and Redemptorist High School where she graduated in 1965. After graduation, Marcy attended Penn Valley Community College. She married Thomas Leonard Woods Sr. on October 16, 1971. While maintaining a family and working full-time, Marcy finished her Bachelor of Arts at Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. Then, she obtained her Master of Arts and Master of Business Administration at Webster University in Kansas City, MO. Marcy began her illustrious career in telecommunications as an operator with Southwestern Bell. Over the next 30 years with AT&T and Sprint, Marcy rose to the ranks of management. This led her to pursue further leadership opportunities with the City of Kansas City, Missouri. Marcy served as the Director of Human Resources with the Kansas City Aviation Department and the Kansas City Water Services where she retired in 2009. Marcy believed that volunteerism was the rent that she paid for living. She was an active Silver Life Member of the NAACP-Kansas City Branch, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, Zi Tau Omega, and Beta Omega Chapters until her health declined. Marcy was a devoted member of St. Monica Catholic Church where she served in the choir, was a member of the Knights and Ladies of St. Peter Claver, Pastoral Council Member, and Liturgical and Eucharistic Minister. Marcy remarried on June 26, 2013, to Pastor Thurmond (TC) Caldwell Sr., while a member at St. Monica, she joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, under Watch Care to assist her husband in his Ministry. She later became First Lady at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. Marcy was preceded in death by her parents Maurice Freeman Sr. and Emma Lee Cooper Freeman; brother Richard Freeman; sister Judith Freeman Hayes; and husband Thomas Woods Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory; husband Thurmond (TC) Caldwell Sr., daughter Tamara L. Woods, son Thomas L. Woods II (Andrea), stepdaughter, Tracy Davis (Carl), stepsons, Robert Caldwell, Torrance Wiseman, and Thurmond Caldwell, Jr., sister Frankie Freeman Wright Sumpter (Linzy); brother Maurice Freeman Jr., sisters-in-law, Charles Etta Freeman, Lois Woods, Katie Woods, Allene Davis, brothers-in-law, Gerald Caldwell (Gracie), Carlton Caldwell, grandchildren Jason Woods, Joshua Woods, and Jack Woods, step-grandchildren, Monique Brown, Cymone Davis, Carlos Davis, Khalil Davis, Brittany Caldwell, Robert Caldwell, Jr., Mikayla Wiseman, and Gabriel Wiseman. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends Anita Russell and Jean Cage, and other friends. Funeral service Thursday, January 12, at 11:00am at St. Monica Catholic Church.
