Malissa Wright

Obituary Malissa Wright was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, on January 1, 1956, to parents Shelby and Lorraine Shannon. Malissa departed this life on Friday, February 9, 2018, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Sandy Lavan Shannon, Ronnie Joe Shannon, Deluand Shannon, and Ezzard Charles Shannon, and a sister, Glory Jean Cunningham. Malissa accepted Christ in her life and was saved in her early 20's at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She married Frank Wright on October 26, 2002. Malissa went to Lincoln High School and earned her Associate Degree in Business from National American University. She worked for American Nurses Association for over fifteen years as an Account Manager. That company relocated to Washington, DC, and she worked for several other companies in the Kansas City area as an Executive Assistant. She took on every job, project, and task very serious "making sure it was done right". She survived two brain aneurysms and retired from working. Malissa was a "GIVER"; she helped everyone that needed help and would give her last to family, friends, and even strangers. She loved being involved in the church, singing in the Choir, praise dance, Sunday school teacher, and acting in church plays. She also enjoyed doing Missionary work, visiting the sick and shut in, witnessing, and helping in any way. Malissa was very energetic, funny, enjoyed cooking, playing family games, watching movies, dressing up, singing and dancing around the house. Malissa was very competitive at everything. She loved going bowling with her family. Malissa Wright leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Frank Wright; four children: Melvyn Key, Lolita Shannon, Teressa Wright (Maurice) and Matthew Key; five sisters: Joyce Jean Shannon, Maxine Hershell Henry, Shelby Mae Richardson, Lavearn Shannon, and Arretta Shannon; one brother, Wy'mon Hudson, Sr.; seven grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that adored her. Funeral Service for Malissa Wright will be held Saturday, February 17, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 4000 Harrison St. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Monday, February 19, 11:00 a.m., Leavenworth National Cemetery.
