Obituary MAE FRANCIS RASHAW Born to Columbus McBath and Mildred Davis McBath, Mae Francis Rashaw made her earthly entrance into this world on May 28, 1927 in Honey Grove, Texas. Growing up in Texas, she received her education through the Texas Public School System. Mae was gainfully employed at a laundry service; she took pride in her work and could iron like nobody’s business. Creases so sharp, the clothes she ironed had to be handled carefully for fear of one cutting themselves. She later met and married Fred Rashaw and to this union six children were born. Mae and Fred later moved their family to Kansas City, Missouri. There they remained as they raised their children. Mae loved her children and lived each day for them. If you ask any one of them, they will tell you that one of their biggest blessings in life was having God himself to bless them by choosing her for their mother. Mae never met a person that did not love her and feel the warmth from her soul. No stranger was ever a stranger again after meeting her. Her love for others and for children especially gained her the nick name of “Big Momma”, even though she only stood at 4’6” tall. Her love and kindness for others was her gift. “Big Momma” loved to play Bingo and was known to drop a few coins at the casinos. When her health began to fail, she took up coloring, which she did daily. She made sure that those that visited her left with a specially colored picture by her. “Big Momma” made her heavenly departure on March 4, 2021 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, Columbus and McKinley, her husband, Fred, her son, Charles and granddaughter, Octavia. She leaves to cherish her many memories; sister, Juanita Guildon of Baton Rouge, LA; children, Ella Marie Brown of Oklahoma City, OK, Henry Sapp (Barbara) of Wichita Falls, TX, Mary Brown of Grandview, MO, Freddie Wallace of Newman, CA, Fred Rashaw, Jr. (Maureen) of Kansas City, MO, Beverly Taylor (Charles) of Omaha, NE and Shirley Bradley of Kansas City, MO; sisters-in-law, Ruby Rashaw and Juanita Cooks both of Kansas City, MO; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Special thanks to Kataruh “Kay” Young and Antoinette “Toni” Hardy for all of the love and care you’ve shown to our “Big Momma” over the years, it is and will always be appreciated. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 15, 2021, 11:00 am at Mt. Calvary COGIC. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 am-11:00am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A.
