Obituary Reverend Willie Henry Gray and Deola Jerry Gray were blessed by God to bear fruit of nine children. On March 20, 1930, in Wybark, Oklahoma, their eighth child was born, and they would name her Lucille. The final chapter in the life of Lucille Gray Taylor was softly closed at home on Friday morning, February 16, 2018. She was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, Herman Gray and Nathaniel Gray, all five sisters, Ruthie Mae Gray, Hattie Mae Gray Cowans, Willie Gray, Dobbins Blaylock, and Mary Helen Gray Milton. Lucille was called by her siblings to move to Kansas City, Missouri in 1944. Lucille attended the school of Dry Cleaning in Rockford, Illinois. After finishing her classes there, she brought her skills back to Kansas City Missouri where her first job was a Garment Press Finisher at Faultless Laundry. Her skills landed her to several other Dry-Cleaning jobs in the Kansas and Missouri areas. Her last and final job was at Kent Cleaners, where she worked for over thirty-three years before they closed and went out of business. Lucille, or better known as “Ceal or Aunt Ceal” was known to the family as everyone's favorite Aunt, because she helped so many people and especially her family with clothes, shoes, Pampers, baby formula, or just a listening ear. She was love by everyone. Lucille was married to Fred Harmon, and Willie Combs, both marriages were dissolved, and no children were born. On February 9, 1967, her one and only daughter was born, and she was named Varonda Lynn. The following year on August 8, 1968, Lucille married Clifford Taylor. After twenty years of marriage, it was also dissolved. Lucille was a member of Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church and served as an Usher on the Senior Usher Board. Lucille enjoyed life; like she would say,” you only live once, so enjoy it all while you can”. She loved to travel, going to family reunions, spending time with her grand- children, her friends, and just everyone that knew her. Lucille Gray Taylor leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Varonda Taylor-Allen; her grand-daughter, Miasya Jones; her grand-son, Jermar Allen; her brother, Elder Chester (Jodie) Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral Service for Lucille Gray Taylor will be held Saturday, February 24, 11:00 a.m. at New Home Church of God in Christ, 3045 Forest Ave. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
