Ms. Lorianne Basnight-Williams

Obituary Sister Lorianne Basnight Williams was born in Columbia, North Carolina on March 6, 1963 to the Late Rev Charlie Sidney Basnight and Mother Edna Basnight; she was the 7th out of eight children. She was a child with a special gift of discernment. Lorianne departed this life on December 8, 2021 at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City Missouri. She was preceded in death by her Father, Reverend Charlie Basnight, and her older Brother Charlie Lee Basnight. Lorianne received her formal education from Tyrell County Public Schools and graduated from Columbia High School. Lorianne always had a positive attitude, infectious smile, and a wonderful sense of humor. Shortly after high school, she shared her contagious smile with others when she worked in fast food and retail. Lorianne also worked for the North Carolina State Employee Credit Union as a bank teller spreading joy to all she encountered. She would also serve the community of Columbia, North Carolina as a hairdresser in her sister’s Nadean’s hair salon. Additionally, Lorianne had a special gift of successfully promoting gospel concerts across the eastern part of North Carolina. Lorianne delighted herself in the Lord, and she looked forward to worshipping with other believers. Lorianne enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, and being with family and close friends especially during holidays and other special occasions. At a very young age, Lorianne developed a relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She served her God through the Zion Grove Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ by reestablishing the Zion Grove Youth Choir, and she is the founder of the Zion Grove Women’s Outreach Choir. Lorianne had a deep passion for visiting those who were sick and shut-in and would offer help to the elderly of the community. On August 28, 1999, she was married to Reverend Rodney E. Williams, and from that union, they had one loving daughter Courtney Nicole Williams who was the apple of her eye. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, and woman of faith who stood by and with her family. Upon leaving Columbia, North Carolina and moving to Kansas City, Missouri she attended the Swope Parkway United Christian Church Disciples of Christ in the role of First Lady, and as a choir and youth leader. Everywhere she went, Lorianne was able to attract people because of down-to-earth personality, love, and spirit of generosity. After a two-and half-year batter with Cancer, Lorianne won the fight and gained her way back home with the Lord. Lorianne Basnight Williams is survived by her husband Rev. Dr. Rodney E. Williams, daughter Courtney Nicole Williams her mother Edna Basnight, siblings, Nadean Spruill, Alfreda Gasaway, Ruby Banks, Malvina Copeland, Donald Ray Basnight, David Wayne Basnight, and a host of relatives. Lorianne also had a special nephew Myron Owens and two special children Danielle N. Williams and Rodney C. Williams. Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, 11:00am at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 8144 Holmes, Rd. KCMO. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens.
