Mr. Lilbert "Fuzzy" Robinson

Obituary Life’s Reflections Lilbert “Fuzzy” Robinson was born June 7, 1939 to Clinton and Inez Johnson Robinson in Kansas City, Kansas. Both parents, 2 daughters, Cherylynn Robinson and Rostine Webb, brother, Kenneth Robinson along with several other relatives preceded him in death. Fuzzy attended KCK public schools. He played basketball for Northeast Junior High School and was considered one of there best players, although Lilbert was short in height he gave the tall ball players a run for their money, always hitting 2 points when he got the ball. He graduated from the great Sumner High School Class of 1958. He remained an active member of his class attending all the class reunions and parties. When he was a teenager he use to drive his mother crazy always beating on her pots and pans until she decided to purchase him a drum set. Fuzzy had a special gift for whistling just like a person singing, his mother Inez also had the gift to whistle and she passed it on to Fuzzy. Lilbert was employed for Swift Packing House where he worked until he retired in 2004. That’s where he got the name “Fuzzy” which stuck with him for the rest of his life. After he retired from Swift Packing House his sister, Prudence helped him get employment with Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Home as a driver. He remained with them for 17 years until his health began to decline. Once back in the day, he was dancing with his sister, Prudence at a party when he met Ernestine, he was flirting with her and following her around, she told him you better get back over there with your woman, he then hollered across the room to his sister…who are you…Prudence replied “your baby sister”, and then in March 1981, he married the love of his life, Ernestine Patterson, and the rest is history. Together they raised their beautiful daughter, Rostine. Lilbert was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 40 years under the leadership of Rev. C.L. Bachus. He was a connoisseur of jazz music. He had over 400 pieces of jazz music in his archive. Lilbert was also known for his dancing and talking trash and his voice travelled very loudly across a room and had a smile that would light up a room. Fuzzy was an ambassador for over 5 years for the KCK Marching Cobras. He supported them in many of their performances. Fuzzy never met a stranger and new many, many people in Kansas and Missouri. His mother once said to him, “When you pass away we will probably have to hold your services at Memorial Hall. He loved his grandchildren dearly Solomon and Elizabeth and all his family members, he was the life of all the family gatherings. Fuzzy will truly be missed, but never forgotten. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. He leaves to cherish his fondest memories: his beloved wife, Ernestine Robinson, 3 sisters: Alice J. Moore of Kansas City, KS, LaDora (Richard) Jackson of Ottawa, KS and Prudence Robinson-Lee of Overland Park, KS; 4 grandchildren: Solomon and Elizabeth Webb of the home, Claude and Anthony Hawkins; 1 daughter, Sylvia (Bill) McCallop of Arlington, TX; three brothers-in-law: Calvin (Charlotte) Jones, Kenneth (Gloria) Lee both of Houston, TX, Albert Johnson and Vernon Johnson of Muskogee, OK; sisters-in-law, Bernetta Robinson of Kansas City, MO and Alberta Eaton of Tulsa, OK, 7 great grandchildren; a special play son, Tony Ellis, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 01, 2021, 11:00am at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, KCK, Interment Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30am-11:00am at the church. Visitation will be held Friday, April 30, 2021, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel, KCK. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel.
