L.C. Richardson

Obituary LC Richardson, a native of Edwards, Mississippi and resident of Kansas City, Missouri was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on February 16, 2021 at his daughter's home in Raymore, Missouri. He was born on September 23, 1934, to Ike D. Richardson and Clara Dozier Richardson. In 1952, after high school, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri. There is where he met and married Rosa Williams in 1954. He worked as a cook then chef all over Kansas City until his retirement from Farmland Industries. After his retirement, he achieved his dream and established LC's BBQ in 1986. He was an excellent chef whose skills manifested in any type of food he prepared, and he loved being with family and friends. His customers have played an important role in his life, as he spent all of his free time sitting in his restaurant at his reserved table, speaking to any and all the customers he could. LC was an expert marksman who had a passion for hunting and fishing. He was a life-long sports enthusiast and a 20-year season ticket holder for the Kansas City Chiefs. He didn't miss an opportunity to watch his Kansas City Royals or Kansas City Chiefs play, and he made sure his restaurant was open for any Sunday home game even though it was normally closed. He was blessed to see his Royals be the 1985 and 2015 World Series Champions and see his Chiefs be the 1970 and 2020 NFL Super Bowl Champions. LC was preceded in death by his wife Rosa Richardson, parents Ike and Clara Richardson, one brother James Richardson, four sisters Gloria Carr, Margie Pope, Jerline Jacobs and Clara Jean Richardson Sizer and his companion Nellie Byrd. Those whom he leaves to cherish his precious memories: his daughter Tonya (William) Richardson Hammett of Raymore, MO; five grandchildren, Tausha (John) Hammett of Olathe, KS, Edna (Kimberly) Richardson of Lenexa, KS, Tiffany Hammett of Kansas City, KS, John David Hammett Sr. of Kansas City, MO, and Tracy Hammett of Raymore, MO. He is survived by one sister, Ruby Mack of Arlington, TX and two brothers, Vernell Richardson of Kansas City, MO and Charlie (Christell) Richardson of Jackson, MS. He also leaves behind his beloved great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
