Ms. Kathleen Guinn

Kathleen Guinn, passed away on February 21, 2025. Kathleen Guinn, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend departed from this earthly life on Friday, February 21, 2025, in Kansas City Missouri at the age of 75. She was born to Bessie Pride Hughes and Raymond Yarbrough on March 25, 1949 in Akron, Ohio. Kathleen’s education began in Akron, Ohio at Grace Elementary school where she attended until the third grade at which time she moved to Waukegan, Illinois in 1959. She attended McAlister Elementary school, Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and Waukegan Township High School. After High School, she worked at Fort Sheridan where she met her future husband, Sherman Guinn, while he was stationed there at the 5th Army. They married on December 10, 1968, and moved to Anchorage, Alaska for a year, during his last tour of duty station. They then relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where she lived until her passing. She was a faithful employee for many years at Missouri Valley Electric Company as a Data Entry Clerk, and then worked in the Kansas City Missouri School District at Center Middle School as an Attendance Clerk until she retired. Kathleen had a wonderful sense of humor, had many hobbies like reading, crafting, sewing, tracing family history and ancestry, listening to her oldies and loved being with family and was endearing to everyone who crossed her path. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Pride Hughes, and Raymond Yarbrough. She is survived by two sisters and three brothers: Mary “Tootsie” Culver, Raymond “Pete” Yarbrough, Rose Yarbrough, Greg Yarbrough, and Marvin “Chops” Yarbrough; son, Willie C. (Kris) Mason, daughter, Shannon Robertson; grandchildren, Chenelle L. Mason, Darien S. Guinn, DeRon M. Guinn, and William C. III; great-grandchildren Ja’Niyah Enis, and Sir Nikkos, and Khalen Johnson. She will be remembered by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many special friends who lovingly called her “Kat.” Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel 1800 East Linwood Blvd. KCMO 64109. Private Disposition Visitation: 2-3:00 p.m. at the Chapel. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels.
