Ms. Judith Hayes

Obituary Judith Ann Hayes was a very loving and caring person to all. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend. “Judy”, as she is lovingly called, never met a stranger and loved children. Judith was born to Maurice Charles Freeman, Sr. and Emma Lee Cooper Freeman on April 26, 1943. Judy grew up in Kansas City and attended St. Monica Catholic School and Redemptorist High School where she graduated in1962. After graduation, Judith briefly attended Penn Valley Community College and then began working at St. Joseph Hospital, where she started a long-standing career working in the healthcare industry. In the early 1970’s Judith met and married Maurice Hayes and moved to Omaha, Nebraska. She lived in Omaha for several years. While in Omaha, she worked for Emmanuel Medical Center. After returning to Kansas City, Judith worked at Truman Medical Center, Research Medical Center, and Walmart where she retired as one of their most memorable greeters. Judith loved to meet new people and she shared joy and kindness to everyone that she met. She loved to cook, to dance, to laugh, to have fun and could always spot a “good looking” man! Judith was a faithful member of St. Monica Catholic Church where she faithfully served in the church choir and eagerly looked forward to annual choir trips. Judith loved music and loved to sing. One of her favorite songs that would get her through challenging times in recent years was “Just a Closer Walk With Thee.” “Judy” was loved by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Charles Freeman, Sr. and Emma Lee Cooper Freeman and brother Richard Eugene Freeman. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sisters Frankie Freeman Wright Sumpter (Linzy) and Marceline Woods Caldwell (Thurman); one very special sister/sister-in-law Charles Etta Freeman; brother Maurice Charles Freeman, Jr.; three nieces Richonia Freeman, Tamara Woods, and Christal Freeman; two nephews Thomas L. Woods (Andrea) and Ian Freeman (Nicole); eight great nieces and nephews; cousins and a special long-time friend Harold Robinson. Judy transitioned to her eternal home on November 20, 2021 and her precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones and friends. Funeral mass will be held on Wed, Dec 1, 2021 at 11 am at St Monica's Catholic Parish. Visit 10 am -11am at the church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Service conducted by Lawrence A.
