Obituary On October 15, 2020 Joyce Marie Long triumphed after a lengthy health challenge, peacefully transitioned to eternal life. With God’s blessings, her earthly journey began on February 6, 1954 in Gould, Arkansas when she was born to her loving parents, Mr. Luddie Dobbs Sr., and Mrs. Lucy Mae Dobbs. Joyce grew up in Dumas, Arkansas where she received her formal education and attended Reed High School. She later received her GED, and joined the workforce. Shortly after, she gave birth to her first child. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was united with Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Dumas, Arkansas. Once coming to Kansas City she started fellowship at Faith Deliverance COGIC, Lee Harold Johnson and Pentecostal Powerhouse COGIC, Robert F. Johnson before making Amazing Grace International Church of God in Christ her home, where she remained an active member until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Joyce was a mother, singer, good friend and confidant to many. She was also the “little sister" to her sixteen siblings Love called her name and after a whirlwind courtship, she was joined in holy matrimony on July 23 1973, to Isaac Harmon, Jr. in Arkansas City, Arkansas. From this union two additional children were born. After five years, the marriage was dissolved and Joyce moved to Kansas City, Kansas with her children to begin a new journey. She began working for Cramer Industries when arriving in Kansas City, Kansas and later worked for Long Motors where she retired in 2018 after her health began to decline. Love called her name again in 1989 when she married, Michael E. Long on July 8, 1989, they were happily married until his death on September 4, 1992. Joyce departed life on October 15, 2020 at Hidden Lake Care Center in Raytown, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luddie Dobbs, Sr. and Lucy Mae Dobbs; and husband, Michael L. Long; brothers, William Dobbs, Nathaniel Dobbs and Willie Dobbs; sister, Doris Jean Swygert; and granddaughter Lexus Gatson. She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life: two daughters, Terrell L. Lockett (Craige) of Blue Springs Missouri, Felicia M. Abbott of Kansas City, Missouri, and one son, Isaac Harmon III., of Kansas City, Missouri. Six grandchildren, Kiana L. Randolph (Antonio) of Houston, Texas, DeMarkus Pleasant and Haden Lockett of Blue Springs, Missouri. Cynira Wooten, Asia Porter, and Isaac D. Harmon, all of Kansas City, Missouri. Four Great-Grandchildren, Kamauri Williamson, Aleiyah Nash, Aria Nash, and Ayden Nash, all of Houston, Texas. Seven brothers, Walter “Rocky” Dobbs (Orlena), Kansas City Missouri, Charles Dobbs (Margaret), Samuel Dobbs, Cornelius Dobbs (Thelma), and Clarence Dobbs, all of Dumas Arkansas. Robert Dobbs (Louis) of Houston, Texas, and Luddie Dobbs Jr. of New Haven Connecticut. Five Sisters, Classie Duarte of New Haven, Connecticut, Aretha Scott, and Dorothy Mae Thomas of Chicago, Illinois, Helen Wilson, of Houston, Texas, Geneva Jordan of Sioux City, Iowa; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 11am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Linwood Chapel 1800 E Linwood Chapel. Visitation 10am. Interment Highland Park KCK.
