Mr. James McIntosh

Obituary James B. McIntosh, age 91, was born on April 29, 1930, to Milton Taylor and Elsie McIntosh in Muskogee, Oklahoma. His parents and all his siblings preceded him in death. His childhood and teenage years were spent in Summit, Oklahoma, before his time in the Army from 1951 to 1953, following which he was transferred to the Standby Reserve. He fought in the Korean War and was honorably discharged after reaching the rank of corporal. He was also awarded the Purple Heart of valor for his service. James moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1955 after marrying Stella Mae Vann in 1954. This union was blessed with three daughters and a son. James had an extraordinarily strong work ethic, which he passed on to his children. He had a variety of jobs: he was a welder at Boeing in Wichita for a brief time, worked at a mattress factory, and finally was employed at the Veterans Medical Center in Kansas City for 30 years, after which he retired. He then worked part-time at the Baptist Hospital for another 15 years. James accepted Christ at the age of 55 at Sheffield Assembly of God. He became a devout Christian, giving time and money to the ministry of the church. He regularly attended Sunday School, participated on the usher board for 22 years, and served as an usher lead and other auxiliaries of the church. He was a member of the Keenagers and enjoyed the Word of God. He often expressed that he appreciated when the minister “Preach[ed] the Bible.” On Friday, June 4, 2021, at Cameron Regional Medical Center, he departed this life and began his eternal life—a long-awaited journey he had yearned for. He leaves to cherish his memory, Stella McIntosh, his wife; daughters Saundra Harris, Synthia McIntosh, Ethel McIntosh (Judy Harmon), and one son James (Carol) McIntosh. Seven grandchildren, Vernetta Harris, Andrew Harris, Curtis McFadden, Daphne McFadden, Martyna McFadden and Eboni McFadden, Makayla Harmon, six great grandchildren; Alisha, Skylar, Noah, Davion, Jayden and Malia and a host of extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021, 11:00am at Sheffield Family Life Center. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the church.
