Obituary Jacqueline “Jackie” Jones was born August 8, 1931, to Robert and Hattie Smalls in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by both parents, her loving husband, Oscar, one son, David “D.J.”, one daughter, Donna Marie, one grandson, Steven L., and one brother, Wilford. Jackie was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1948. After graduating, she worked in various restaurants throughout the downtown area as a Dishwasher and Cook. In 1948, Jackie met the love of her life, Oscar Jones, Jr. and they were married on his birthday May 31st in 1950. To this union, seven children were born. Jackie’s love for children led her to open her home as a Daycare Provider for several years, while also playing a vital role in the lives of her own grandchildren, as she helped to raise and nurture them. She later decided to return to the workforce doing Janitorial Services for the Kansas City School District Plaza Library until her retirement in the early 1990’s. Jackie’s love for Christ began at an early age, attending Spruce Missionary Baptist Church and later, uniting with Westminster Baptist Church, along with her husband in 1989. Her hobbies included cooking, which she was best known for her infamous “chili”, and she enjoyed years of league bowling. She was an avid Kansas City Royals fan, seldom missing a radio or televised game, and she was sure to make her annual visit to the Kansas City Royals Stadium to see her team in action! Jackie “Jackie” Jones leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Oscar “Bud” Jones, III (Juannette) and Steven L. Jones (Sharon); three daughters: Cassandra “Sandy” Smith-Jones, Hattie E. Craddock (William), and Brenda J. Jones all of Kansas City, Missouri; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Smalls of Kansas City, Missouri and Robert Small of San Francisco, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral Service for Jacqueline “Jackie” Jones will be held Thursday, April 12, 10:00 a.m. at Westminster Baptist Church, 11230 Bristol Terrace. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, 2:30 p.m., Leavenworth National Cemetery.
