Mrs. Jackie Cheadle

Jackie Lee Cheadle, 87, passed away on April 24,2024 at home, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born February 26,1937 in Osawatomie, Kansas to her father John and Helen Marie (Monroe) Wells. Jackie grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City in 1955. Jackie married the love of her life, Lee Thurman Cheadle, in 1958. They were happily married for 65 years. They welcomed to that union, two children, Mark Thurman and Helen Dione. Jackie pursued a career in nursing and later in education as a classroom teacher. Jackie was a faithful witness for Jesus and was fearless and bold in sharing her faith. She carried a strong desire for her family, as well as anyone who crossed her path, to know Him as their Lord and Savior. Jackie was determined to help point the world to Jesus. She carried this out in many ways, as a children’s choir leader, (Angel Choir) with her sister, Johnetta at Centennial United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women and a Sunday School teacher. Year after year in her beloved neighborhood on 24th and Myrtle, Jackie would canvass the block every summer inviting young people to come to Good News Club at her home, sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship. She continued to share her faith and spread the word until she took her final breath. Jackie enjoyed attending Graceway, and the Way of Life class. This community was very near and dear to her heart. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Billy Dean and John Aaron, sisters Johnetta, and Myrtle Ellen. Jackie is survived by her husband, Lee Thurman of Kansas City; her son, Mark Thurman (Lucia) Cheadle; daughter Helen Dione Cheadle both of Kansas City, MO; nephew Bert Richard (Michelle) Wells of Lee’s Summit, MO; Sisters and 1 Brother Bernadine Adams, Helen Wells, Phyllis Moore, George Wells all of California. Her grandchildren Lauren Marie (Brian) Davis of Katy, Texas, Myles Aaron(Lisa) Cheadle, of Blue Springs, Missouri, Logan Scott (Whitney) of Dallas Texas. Two great-grandchildren Lee Thurman and Louisa Mae Cheadle and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire team at Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care. Words cannot express our appreciation for your care and support to our family and dear loved one. Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 2, 2024, 1:00pm at Graceway Church. Interment Leavenworth Nat'l Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation from 12pm-1pm at church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may shared on our website.
