Mrs. Ida Lewis

Ida Ruth Louis Cravens Lewis, 95, passed away on June 11, 2026, at her home in Kansas City, MO. She is survived by her children; Michelle Acosta-Delgado Hicks of Kansas City, MO; Fred Terrance Lewis of Kansas City, MO; Martrise Reed of Birmingham, AL; and Carrie Sumpter (Kenneth Sumpter) of Belton, MO; her sisters Gwendolyn Pierce of Virginia; Myra Hans of Kansas City, MO; 12 Grandchildren; 33 Great Grandchildren; and 20 Great Great-Grandchildren. She was born on May 25, 1931, in Ft. Smith, AR to Thomas Ishmael and Carrie Perry Cravens. Ida grew up in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from RT Coles, known as Lincoln Academy, in Kansas City, MO in 1949. After high school she attended college at Penn Valley in Kansas City, MO, where she received an associate’s degree in business administration. Ida began working for the Housing Authority of Kansas City as a Project Manager where she worked for 10 years. She was also the Owner and CEO of Perry’s Place for Children for eight years; a Social Worker at NEWS House Battered Women’s Shelter for 12 years; A School Bus Driver for the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools for 10 years; and a Caregiver for Celebrity Care for 7 years, she retired in 2015 at 84 years old. She was the Owner of Cravens’ Battered Women’s Shelter, Co-Founder of Harvester’s, and Ad Hoc, a proud member, Elder, and lead of Women’s Ministry of Real Truth Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ida married Archie Lewis in October 1985, in Kansas City, MO. They were happily married for 10 years. Ida as a member of Agape Multicultural Seventh Day Adventist Church enjoyed playing the piano, singing, reading her bible, and spending time with her family. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, five children, (The triplets; Alfred Gerald Richardson, Eric David Richardson), and two grandchildren, Vartinez Richardson, and DeMarcus Micks. Funeral Services will be held Sunday June 28, 2026, at 11:30 am at Agape Multicultural SDA Church 1117 North 28th Street KCKS 66102.
