Obituary Hortense Elaine (Mason) Spencer was born May 21, 1951 in Kansas City Mo. She went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2020. As a member of Gilbert Memorial AME Church of Kansas City, Mo she accepted Christ. She graduated from Wyandotte High School and attended Donnelly College. Hortense worked at Superior Toy, KU Medical Center, Salvation Army, and Bartle Hall. Hortense married at a young age and enjoyed being a wife and mother. Hortense was a loving and giving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She is proceeded in death by parents Willie B. and Lloyd Mason Sr., and Dolores Jean Ferguson, three brothers Lloyd Mason, Jr., Michael Eugene Martin, and Todd Williams. Hortense leaves to cherish her memories three sisters Jerrie Lynn Baker-Lee, Sandra Kay Jackson , Piccola Fatima Williams from Kansas City, MO, six brothers Clifton A. Martin, John Mark Turner, Paul David Turner Sr., Rodd Williams, Walter Waylon Ferguson from Kansas City MO, and Darryl Eugene Rowell from Topeka, KS; two daughters; Alanna Michelle Spencer of Hayward, CA, Andrena Marie Jones of Gladstone, MO, son-in-law; Richard Herbert Jones Sr. of Gladstone, MO, six grandsons; Joe Norman George III, Jack Avery George Sr., of Kansas City, MO, Christopher Kaleb Thompson, Isaiah Benjamin Thompson of Gladstone, MO, Richard Herbert Jones Jr. (Grandview, MO), and Andrew Morgan Spencer of Hayward, CA; two great grandchildren Avery Michelle Cruz-George of Kansas City, KS and, Jack Avery George Jr., of Kansas City, MO and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Hortense lived at Temple Heights Manor for Seniors in Raytown, MO where she enjoyed talking to friends and participating in the daily activities. Hortense loved to volunteer and help others. She volunteered at Salvation Army and often offered to help others in need. Hortense’s beauty, style, generosity, kindness, love and humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Let heaven and earth rejoice, she is finally at peace with her Heavenly Father. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Thursday, December 3rd at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Linwood Chapel 1800 E.
