Mr. Herbert Walker

Obituary Herbert Walker was born June 14, 1933 in Tangipahoa, Louisiana to the union of Miles and Georgia Ree Walker. He was preceded in death by both parents and his wife of 52 years, Florine Walker. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Dorothy Briscoe and Elnora Walker and one brother James Walker. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia L Watson. Herbert was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February13, 2022 at KU Medical Center. At age 16 Herbert moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he stayed the remainder of his life. He worked various jobs and learned to work on cars. Eventually he opened his own business. The proud and hard working owner of Empire Transmission Service that he operated well over 40 years. He was well known for his transmission work and generosity throughout the city. Herbert enjoyed going camping and fishing. He loved to barbecue for his family and friends. Making homemade ice cream for the family was also something he was great at. The thing he enjoyed the most was spending time with his grandchildren. Herbert was a great story teller and through those stories came lessons. His most accomplished lesson was raising three boys to become great men and great husbands. Herbert leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Stephanie Oneal (Donald), Jolenta Goode (Marcyl) and three sons, Anthony James (Elizabeth), Michael James (Jackie) and Larry James, his dear brother, Joe Walker, grandchildren, Elizabeth James, Gwynee James, Anthony James Jr., Katrina James, Michael James Jr., Lonell James and Malcolm Goode, one granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
