Ms. Henry Mae Settles

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. "Peaches" Henry Mae Settles, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on February 17, 2025, at New Mark Care Center at the age of 80. Born on March 29, 1944, in Austin, Texas to Bernice J. (Tinnon) Crowfield; and Henry Lewis. Although Henry Lewis was Peaches biological father, John Crowfield raised her as his very own. After she was born Bernice J. (Tinnon) Crowfield and John Crowfield, chose to move to Kansas City, MO to raise their family. Peaches graduated from Central High School where she received her High School diploma. Peaches lived a life filled with love, laughter, and selfless dedication to those around her. Peaches began her family in 1962 by getting married and having her first child. Peaches was a loving mother to Robert L. Hundley, Randall E. Hundley, Sharon R. Hundley, Richard B. Kelly, Helen (Settles) Lloyd, Shirlene R. Day, and Karla D. Settles. She was a cherished figure to her grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Her family was the center of her world, and she found joy in every moment spent with them. She also took in other children into her home that needed help during their life. She was a mom and bonus mom to others, and her love was spread all over to anyone who needed it. Peaches had a passion for cooking, shopping, reading, music and traveling. She loved caring for others, which was a defining trait throughout her life. While being divorced, Peaches was always excited about love and never gave up. Being able to kindle and rekindle love with her special friend, who was there to support her throughout the years. Being a pillar of stable day-to-day life for Peaches and the children, we are sure that he greeted her at the heavenly gates. Peaches was a professional driver with K.C. Area Transportation Authority (KCATA). She was known for her dedication, care, and kindness until she retired in 2004. Her work brought her into contact with countless individuals, but her impact was always much more than just a job—Peaches was a steady and warm presence in her community. She took pride in making those she encountered feel valued and appreciated. A woman of deep warmth and generosity, Peaches enjoyed bringing people together through her cooking and hospitality, always making sure everyone felt welcomed and cared for. Her adventurous spirit and zest for life will live on in the many memories she has left behind. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ivanhoe United Church 6512 Woodson Road Raytown, MO 64133. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery.
