Obituary Henry Lee Perry, Jr. was born on June 7, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri. The second of four children born to the union of Henry and Clara Perry. Henry departed this life on March 10, 2018, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry L. Perry, Sr., his dad, Vern M. Hopkins, Sr., uncle Lawrence Kimble, cousin Darrell Waxter, and brother-in-law, Walter Akers, Jr. Henry attended Paseo High School and served in the United States Army. After returning home from the military, he pursued his interest as an Auto Mechanic and a Carpenter. Henry was a “Jack of all trades and a Master of many”, and the go to Handyman around town. He could do just about anything from repairing a car to building a house. Most recently he was “Right-Hand Man” to The Wire-Man, a business owned and operated by his son, Henry, III. Henry was committed to his children and doing whatever it took to make them happy. He was also a loving and caring son, awesome brother, uncle and nephew; whenever you needed him, he was just a phone call away. Everyone could count on Henry to keep them laughing; he was the “life of the party”. His hobbies included fishing, barbequing, playing dominoes, and hanging out with friends and family. Henry Lee Perry, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Clara Perry; sisters: Patricia Akers, Jacqueline Simmons (Russell), and Sharon Flournoy all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Barbara Hill (Bruce) of Florence, Kentucky; brothers, Vern Hopkins, II of Kansas City, Missouri and Rodney Perry of Chicago, Illinois; children: LaTanya Perry, Henry Perry, III (Elisia) of Kansas City, Missouri, Curtis Evans, Alfonso Evans, Adonis Evans, Da’Neka Ponds, De’Shawn Ponds, and De’Juan Ponds of Kansas City, Kansas; step-mother, Christine Hopkins; a great-aunt, Lettie Ruth Gordon; twenty-two grandchildren; one great-grandson, nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Service for Henry Lee Perry, Jr. will be held Saturday, March 17, 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Right Baptist Church, 4700 Pittman Road. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Brooking Cemetery.
