Mr. Henry Green, Jr.

Henry Jr. was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Henry Sr. and Ida Francis Green the second of nine children, raised in Portland, Oregon, and Shreveport. Henry Jr. accepted his journey in faith of our Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ at the age of eleven by joining Lake Bethlehem Baptist Church in Shreveport together with his sister Mary. Henry Jr. was called Junior by family and childhood friends, he attended elementary school in Portland continuing middle to high school in Shreveport; drafted into the US Army in February 1969, released Honorable in 1971. Henry Jr. returned from Germany to Shreveport pursuing his passion of life. Henry Jr. moved to Kansas City, Missouri assisted by family, his passion for the game of basketball yielded an opportunity to play basketball, where he received his GED and an associate certification in Arts & Design from Penn Valley Community College. Henry soon met Joyce Bowen, they married and the union was blessed with two sons Nathan, and Stephan; an eternal bond was created with his sons. Henry Jr. served as a correctional officer at Huntsville, Texas State Prison in the late seventies, but soon returned to Missouri. furthering his career as a painter and retired from Ford Motors. Later in life Henry Jr. accepted employment from the VA Hospital. The blessings continue to flow for Henry Jr., as he received a bundle of joy, an additional love, **his granddaughter Guyiana Green; still more love to give he also welcomed in more grands, Da’Veon; Devon; Jerome; Nicholas; and Glendale. Henry Jr. the agitator, will be sorely missed for his conversations of positivity, his mechanic and handyman skills as well as always being someone to talk to; Agape. Henry Jr. was preceded in death by his parents Henry Sr. and Ida Francis Green. Left in mourning his sons, Nathan (Liana) Green of Canada; Stephan (Danielle "Nikki") Green of Kansas City, MO; Aunt Ola Williams Lee of Kansas City, MO; Uncle C. F. Williams of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Mary Kelly of Kansas City, MO; Gretchen L. Green; and Shirley A. Bryant of Shreveport, LA; Gloria G. (Mark) Broom of Crosby, TX; brothers, Billy R. Green and Ronald Green of Shreveport, LA; Larry W. Green of Kansas City, MO; Gary B. (De’Laveaire) Green of Gonzales, LA; grandchildren**above; several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Rest in peace Believer, Son, Brother, Dad, Uncle, Nephew, Granddad, Friend, Neighbor, and Preserver. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 4:00 P.M. at Lawernce A.
