Ms. Helen Green

Obituary Helen Joyce Walker entered the world on March 31, 1959, to Turner and Adell Walker in Kansas City, Missouri. Helen was educated through the Kansas City, Missouri public school system. She graduated May 1977 from Central High School in Kansas City, Mo. She attended Penn Valley Community College where she received an Associate's Degree in Nursing. She later attended Kaplan University where she consistently made the Dean's List and received a Bachelor's of Science Degree. Helen met the love of her life and united in holy matrimony to Thomas Green on June 26, 1983. From this union they welcomed two children, Terrell and Alisha. Throughout her career as a nurse, Helen met and impacted many lives. She began working at Children's Mercy Hospital in the Burn Unit. She continued to soar in her career at Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital as a Psych Nurse. She then completed her career by working at University Health (formerly Truman Medical Center) as a Medical Surgical Nurse which is where she retired in 2021 after 31 years of working as a nurse. Helen stepped into many important roles during her 20+ years at Bethel Church of God in Christ. These roles included deaconess, church nurse, hospitality (kitchen crew), choir, church beautiful, and so much more. Her favorite pastime included shopping, decorating, and traveling. Helen loved to seek out adventure in traveling across the world with her crew “The Syndicates”. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Turner and Adell Walker, sister Sheila Walker Harrell, her brothers Turner Walker Jr., Andre Walker, father-in-law Elder John Green, mother-in-law Ora Green. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 beautiful years, Thomas Green of Raytown, MO, her son Terrell (Anne) Green of Independence, MO, her daughter Alisha (Keevon) Moore of Raytown, MO. Her siblings, Carol Walker of Houston, TX, Kathy (Carl) Gray, Darryl (Tracy) Walker of Kansas City, MO; Deidre (Allen) Phillips of Lee's Summit, MO, Cynthia (Shawn) Byers of Grain Valley, MO; Brother-in-laws James Green, Kansas City, KS, Bobby Green (Wanda), Lee's Summit, MO, Terry Green, Independence, MO. Sister-in-law LoWanda Green, her grandson Da'Mauree Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022, 2:00pm at Boone Tabernacle COGIC.
