Glorious Andrews

Obituary Glorious Carrie (Slaughter) Andrews was born on April 11, 1925 in Independence, Missouri to parents, Mary Alice Woodard Key and James Slaughter. Glorious departed this life on January 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Edward, Tommy, and Jerry Key, and one sister, Cora Wilson. Glorious attended Young Elementary School in Independence, Missouri. She graduated from R.T. Coles High School of Kansas City, Missouri. She worked at several jobs over the years, Ro-Co Toy Company, Western Electric, and Sears Department Store. She retired from AT&T after working from 1964 to 1988. Glorious joined Palestine Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Earl Able. She loved to go to church and was a loyal and faithful member until her health failed and she could no longer attend. However, she was provided the taking of the “Lord’s Supper” every First Sunday of the month by the Deacons of the church. Glorious was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals. She enjoyed planting and growing vegetables, plants, and other greenery. She loved the outdoors so much that she would always want to look out of the windows. She was our “Neighbor Watch”, (smile). Glorious enjoyed all the Lincoln R.T. Coles Reunions for the Class of 1943. Glorious was well loved by all who knew her! Glorious Carrie (Slaughter) Andrews leaves to mourn her passing, a devoted and loving daughter, Brenda Smith; granddaughter, Michelle Smith; great-granddaughter, Rashonda Manning (De’Andre); great-grandson, Rashad Smith; great-greatgrandchildren: Tariq Reid, Ashton Reid and Memphis Manning; four sisters: Carrie Pruitt of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary (Walter) Strickland of Kansas City, Missouri, Willa (Robert) Arnold of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Georgia Hayes of Grandview, Missouri; one brother, John Key of Columbia, Missouri; a special cousin, Leonard Slaughter; her Home Health Companion, Mary Howard; a very special Helper, Ms. Katie Howlett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral Services for Glorious Carrie (Slaughter) Andrews will be held Thursday, February 8, 11:00 a.m. at Palestine Missionary Church of God in Christ, 3619 E. 35th St. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
