Mrs. Georgia Lee (Byrd) Haliburton

Obituary Georgia Lee Byrd Haliburton was born on October 23, 1925, in Henrietta, Oklahoma. Georgia was the oldest of fourteen children born to Frances Bennett (Frank) and George Byrd. Ten siblings preceded her in death, Dempsey Lee Byrd, Joseph Byrd, Eddie Ray Byrd, Jewel Byrd, Joann Bright, Willie Elva Bennett, Ollie Mae Price, Frank Edgar Bennett, John Arlen Bennett and Anthony P. Bennett, one daughter, Vanessa Haliburton and one grandson, Lester Haliburton. Georgia attended Rosenwald School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She excepted Christ at an early age. Georgia married John W. Haliburton and they later moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1946. To this union six children were born, Earlene Haliburton, Donna Haliburton, Karen Haliburton, John W. Haliburton, Jr., Vanessa Haliburton and Vickie Haliburton. After some time, the marriage dissolved and she then met her life partner, George A. Calloway of Midway, Alabama. She and George bore four children, Denise, Marsha, Arlene and Christine. Georgia worked for the Hilton Plaza Inn for twenty-five years until she retired in 1995. She resided in midtown Kansas City. A well-loved woman, Georgia enjoyed reading, cooking and sitting on the porch watching and greeting newfound friends throughout her neighborhood. Georgia was always willing to help others and give sound advice. She was known for her open-door policy and giving heart toward everyone, especially her children and grandchildren. Georgia leaves to cherish her memory nine children, Earlene Haliburton, Donna Haliburton, Karen Haliburton, John W. Haliburton (Kelley), Vickie Haliburton, Denise Dixon (Jim Farrell), Marsha Haliburton-Cody (Daniel), Arlene Haliburton (Melvin), Christine Patton (Gregory); one sister, Mildred Wilkes; two brothers, Elgene Bennett (Barbara), Eugene Bennett (Colleen); three sisters-in-law, Maxine Bennett, Ruby Bennett and Kathy Bennett; thirty-six grandchildren; seventy great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Georgia was a great sister, mother, daughter and grandmother. She will truly be cherished and missed. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, 1:00 pm at the World Harvest Ministries. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am-1 pm at the church.
