Ms. Gentry Lee Love

Gentry Lee Love, was born on January 10, 1928 to the union of Elmer Miller, Sr. and Minnie (Jones) Miller in Tillar, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Elmer and J.D. Miller; and her son, Howard Love. She attended the Shady Grove school in Dumas, Arkansas and completed the primary school level.On January 28, 1946, she married Ivanhoe Love, Sr., and to this union five sons were born. Gentry (affectionately known as Ms. Jackie and Momma Love) loved caring for people. After moving to Liberal, Kansas, she worked as a dietary aide in hospitals and geriatric facilities. She had a special gift for caring for those who were ill in their homes—cooking, cleaning, and seeing to their daily needs when they were unable to do so themselves. After relocating to Olathe, Kansas, she continued her lifelong service to others, including working at Miss Gee Gee’s Wonderland Day Care and caring for individuals in her home. Her goal in life was to remain productive and to help her fellow man—and she fulfilled that mission, even at the age of 97. She accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized in Silver Lake. In Liberal, she attended Bible Way Church of God in Christ and Community Baptist Church. After moving to Olathe, she joined Second Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Deaconess, Woman of Wisdom and in the Mission. Momma Love enjoyed attending church, fishing, and spending time with her family. She especially loved cooking for others. There was always a sweet potato pie in the oven, chicken and noodles on the stove, or her famous collard greens and fried chicken ready to be served with love. There was always a blue gill feast whenever she went fishing. She quietly departed this life on Sunday, November 16, 2025, shortly after virtually attending church service. Her legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in every life she touched. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Ivanhoe Jr. of Liberal, KS; Levorn of Kansas City, KS; Wilbert of Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; and Bobby (Janice) of Olathe, KS. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was a mother figure to Ivanhoe’s son, Curtis Love of O’Fallon, MO (Joyce Michelle), Lee Andrew Smith (Janell) and Robert C. Love (Deceased). Funeral services Friday, November 28, 2025 at 11:00am at Second Baptist Church of Olathe. Interment Saturday, November 29, at 12:00pm in the Liberal Cemetery. Visitation Friday 9:00am-11:00am at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
