Mr. Floyd Crowley

Floyd Junior Crowley died on August 17. 2023. He quietly departed this life in the comfort of his Lee’s Summit home, surrounded by his wife and daughter after a long illness. He was born on January 12, 1946, in Osceola, Missouri to Jesse Crowley and Velma Walker Crowley. He was the first-born son of this union as well as two sisters. Velma remarried Herley Bedell who was a loving father to Floyd and of that union came the addition of 3 brothers. Floyd was educated in the Springfield, Missouri public schools, where he attended Central High school. Floyd was a people person. He was a workaholic who loved going into work every day and meeting new people. No one was a stranger to him. Floyd had many talents. He loved hunting, music, dancing, bowling, golf and as a young man he loved boxing in the Golden Gloves and was featured in the Springfield Newspaper. Floyd loved to mentor children and started a little league baseball team in Springfield to keep kids off the streets. In the summer Floyd would contact businesses to get donation and he even went to Boys Town to get ponies for the kids to ride. He was a mentor to a lot of adolescents as well as adults during his lifetime. Floyd was a person who enjoyed life and visiting family and friends. He treasured family above all things after God. Each and every day before each meal he would say a prayer and if we forgot he would remind us to be thankful for everything that God had given us. Those who knew him witnessed his compassion for others and had heart of gold. If you were in a tight spot and needed assistance, he was there for you. Floyd also had a hot temper if provoked and most people tried to stay away from that side of him. During his lifetime Floyd worked many jobs. Sold insurance for Mutal of Omaha, home alarm systems for AT&T, Sears Roebuck & Co and John F Lawhon Furniture. He decided to open his own retail furniture store in Blue Springs and later in south Kansas City and called them Floyd’s Furniture Barn. After 15 years of operation, he closed the stores to try something new. He decided to try the car business. Floyd was all about making money. He worked for Ray Adams Toyota, Superior Buick Cadillac, Dave Arnold Nissan, and was employed at Stateline Nissan for over 25 years before his passing. Floyd was considered a legend in the automotive industry. As a car salesman he was well known throughout the greater metropolitan area of Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Crowley, devoted stepfather Herley Bedell, his mother Velma Bedell, sister Victoria Hendricks and grandparents Raymond and Doris Walker. He leaves behind to cherish his life and home going, his wife of 58 years Sharon D Crowley of the home, his daughter Teresa D Crowley of Kansas City, MO. his sister Loraine Walton (Blaine) of Springfield Mo., brother Herley Bedell Jr of Springfield Mo., Larry Bedell of Springfield Mo., and Kenny Bedell (Jamie) of Springfield Mo., nephew Kenneth Garrett III (Ashley) and Kenneth Garrett IV of Lee’s Summit, MO., his two fur babies Peanut and “Shorty George” as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Floyd Junior Crowley will be greatly missed by his wife, daughter, family, a large number of friends and neighbors. Along with all of the customers he touched throughout his lifetime. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, 11am at the Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Visitation 10 am - 11 am. Interment: Mount Moriah Cemetery.
