Ms. Floy Lee Watson

Floy Lee Watson (née Johnson) was called to her heavenly home on September 8, 2024, in Overland Park, Kansas, having graced this world for 95 years. Born on November 12, 1928, in Valliant, Oklahoma, she embodied the virtues of humility, compassion, and unwavering faith throughout her life. Floy, a dedicated seamstress, sewed not only with thread and fabric but also with love and care, stitching the fabric of her community together through her service. Her hands, which so skillfully pieced together materials, were frequently raised in prayer and fellowship at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church. She served God and her congregation with gratitude, leading and participating in the Red Circle Girls, Wimodausis, the Food Pantry, and the Wedding of Roses. As WMU Director and a National Baptist Convention Delegate, she honored the sanctity of her faith and the importance of spiritual guidance. Educated at Langston University, Floy's intellectual and spiritual pursuits went hand in hand, enriching her life’s tapestry with wisdom and understanding. Floy's heart knew no bounds, as evidenced by her loving and nurturing nature, especially towards her nine children, whom she regarded as her greatest blessings. She is lovingly remembered by her children Carl LeWayne, Sandra Renee, Adrienne Louise, Denise Diane, Cynthia Michelle (Renardo), Marvin Kirk (Stacey), William Jr., and Waymon Floyd (Talia). She now joins in eternal rest her husband William Watson, her son Reginald Watson, her sister Mary Benson, her brother William Johnson, her parents Collin and Sally Johnson, her granddaughters Amber Rainey and Leah Brown, all of whom predeceased her. In honoring Floy's memory, we reflect on the respect for all of creation she demonstrated through her actions, the kindness she dispensed freely, and the love she poured into every facet of her life. Her spirit, a beacon of divine light, continues to shine in the hearts of those she touched. Funeral services Saturday, September 14, 2024, 11:00am at The Mount Christian Worship Center. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 9:00am -11:00am at the church. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
