Mrs. Faye D. Grier

Faye D. Ivory was born September 28, 1936 to Zula Ivory in Bowie County, Richmond Texarkana, Texas. She was 13 when she and her siblings relocated to Kansas City, Missouri with their mother, Zula Ivory. In 1949 Faye attended and then graduated from. R.T. Coles School. Faye met Marvin Grier and they married October 12,1963, gaining a step- daughter Ruby Grier- Banks. She loved and cherished Marvin to the very end of their 60 years together. Her first job after she graduated was with TGY as a cashiers clerk. Throughout her life she was employed by several companies in Kansas City public sectors. Lake City Ammunition Plant, General Hospital as a Senior Clerk (1972-1975), Truman, Medical Center as a Coding Analyst (1975-1991), retired after 19 years, Swope Parkway Health Center as a Medical Records Technician (1991-2001), retired after 10 years. She received several certificates for all her hard work and unwavering dedication over the many years. She was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Clark in 1985, now under the leadership of Pastor Richard Clark. Faye was very knowledgeable of the Bible and studied daily. She loved Sunday school and attended faithfully until she had to care for Marvin full-time. She continued her Sunday school lessons from home, listening to sermons on the radio, as well as her cassette tape player. She was a great cook and loved to bake all sorts of desserts. Her cakes were so delicious that friends and coworkers would place orders for birthdays, weddings and holiday events. She had an in-home Bakery business. She enjoyed cooking for her large family, gatherings home and away from home. She always looked forward to spending time with her siblings as well as family and friends. She never missed a day without talking to at least one of her brothers. Her past time hobbies were sewing and watching her daily soap operas. She was often involved with Marvin and friends, and enjoyed the simple things in life. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Marvin Grier, brothers, Printic Britt, James Bush, Clester Ivory and Dennis Jackson; sister, Zora Scott; nephews, Everett Scott, Raymond Jackson, nieces, Sarah Newton, Amanda Scott and Sharilyn Kay Boyd. Faye departed this life on Sunday, March 1, 2026. She leaves to cherish her memories: her niece’s Denise (Walter) Reed, Courtney Ross; nephew’s: Dennis E. Jackson, Derrick E. Jackson; step-daughter Ruby Grier-Banks, step-granddaughter Rashonda Banks, step-grandson Rickey Banks, A host of great nieces, nephews, great, great-nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends ,best Friend Amy Young. Funeral services Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 9:00am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel . Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation 8:00am-9:00am at the chapel.
