Evonia Riley-Clark

Obituary Mrs. Evonia Riley-Clark was born January 30, 1938, in Dumas Arkansas to the union of Thomas Riley and Rubie Nicholson-Riley. She was the youngest of two children, both parents and her brother Henry Lee Riley preceded her in death. She moved with her family to Kansas City where she went to RT Cole Vocational High School and graduated from Manual Vocational High school in 1956. She was a cheerleader at both schools but met her Husband and life partner Alvin A Clark at Manual Vocational High school. Evonia united in marriage to Alvin A Clark Sr. on June 24,1956, of this union five children were born. Alvin Clark Jr. , Timothy Clark Sr., Russell Clark, Madeline (Marie) Clark-Kinney and Michael Clark. Evonia professed her belief in Christ at an early age, she was baptized and chose Morning Star Missionary Baptist as her church home. She was an active and dedicated member uniting under the pastorate of the late Rev. A.B. Simmons and current pastorate of Rev. John Modest Miles. of more than 70 years. Evonia worked and retired from Western Electric known as AT&T. She helped to pioneer women’s equality in the workforce initiating actions forcing corporations to recognize women’s maternity rights in the workplace. She loved to read novels, bowling, listening to soulful music and she was always active in the lives of her children and grandchildren. The Lord called her home Christmas Day Friday, December 25, 2020. Two sons preceded her in death, Alvin A Clark Jr., and Russell N Clark Sr. She leaves to mourn in her homegoing her beloved Husband of 64 years Alvin A Clark. Sr.; Daughter Madeline Marie Kinney (Bruce Sr); two sons, Timothy L Clark Sr. (Georgia); Michael Clark (Shellie); eleven grandchildren, Nikkia Manning, Kamilah Clark- Shobowale, Timothy Clark Jr.; Shanice Oliver, Erika Brownlee, Bruce Kinney Jr.; Brittany Kinney, Russell Clark Jr., Sydnee Clark, Courtney Clark, and Naomi Clark; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many more friends.
