Evelyn Alder

Obituary Our Dear Mother Evelyn Alder was born on May 7, 1922 in Dermott, Arkansas. Her mother’s names was Ardelia Richardson and father’s name was Lonnie Richardson. She received her education at Dermott High School. At the age of 17, she moved to Gary, Indiana to live with her brother, Lonnie Richardson, Jr. At age 22 she married Oddie Saxton, and to this union one child was born, Mae Saxton. A few years later, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she met with her childhood friend, Robert Alder and they were united in marriage in 1946. They then relocated to Kansas City, Missouri and to this union nine children were born. She joined Eastside Church of God In Christ (COGIC) which was later named Griddine Temple COGIC, under the leadership of the late Elder Griddine in 1954. Here she accepted the Lord as her Savior and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She served as a dedicated Sunday School teacher for many years. She later joined Boone Tabernacle COGIC in 1976 under the leadership of the late Floyd H. Thuston, where she also served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible Band teacher. She continued this ministry and served under Bishop L. F. Thuston until the Lord called her home. Also, while serving at Boone Tabernacle, she became very acquainted with Missionary Shirley Stokes who was like a dear daughter to her. Missionary Stokes new Evelyn loved church and transported her to and from church for many years. They developed a special love and friendship. Evelyn worked at North Kansas City Memorial Hospital as a Nurse Technician in the Pediatrics Department from 1970-1980 until her health began to fail her. Due to this occurring, she made the decision not to return to work. She battled many different types of health issues but because of her strong faith in God, He brought her through every situation, and she was a living testimony and a true miracle. She loved all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, they were the joy of her life. She devoted her life to her late husband Robert, until his death in 1999. She loved her Boone Tabernacle family and looked forward to seeing them every time the church doors were open. She was proceeded in death by her husband Robert L. Alder Sr., and sons, Larry F. Alder, Michael A. Alder, Richard E. Alder, Robert L. Alder Jr., and an infant son. She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy, (three daughters) Mae O. Ford, Rhonda S. Williamson and Kathleen L. Alder and (2 sons) Dwight E. Alder Sr., and Darrell C. Alder Sr. (Marvel), brother, LZ Richardson (St. Louis, MO) and sister Virta Robertson(Portland, OR), a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a new great-great granddaughter. Finally, her sister, Illaree Triplett (St. Louis, MO), “Big Sis, “that recently turned 100 years old. Our Dear Mother, who made 98 years of age, will truly be missed!
