Eugene Jordan

Eugene Jordan, the eighth of ten children born to the late Herbert Jordan, Sr. and Gertrude Jordan was born on March 10, 1945. Eugene was called home on Thursday, December 14, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kevin E. Jordan, Sr., and four siblings, Gladys Jordan, Ellamae Jordan, William Jordan and Herbert Jordan, Jr. Eugene was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963. During this time he met and later married the love of his life, Bettye Davis on October 24, 1964. Bettye was his Queen and he was her King. Eugene and Bettye spent their time partnering as parents, partying; they were known for Two-Stepping, living life, laughing, and loving each other. They had just recently celebrated fifty-three years of marriage. Eugene had an Entrepreneur spirit. He owned several businesses over the years, a Candy store and a Detail shop, etc. he was the owner of J-Mart Cleaners for over thirty-five years. He was often called Mr. J-Mar by many of his customers. Eugene did not mince his words. He was straight-forward and always remained real. He was an honest person, easy to talk to and very understanding. He was a great father to his three children. They were his pride and joy. He had a cool laid-back spirit and infectious smile. He maintained several decade long friendships with: David Stewart (Snooky), Dennis Drew, Herb McDaniels, Leuis Chilcoat, Michael Counce and Larry Barnes (Suga Bear). Eugene enjoyed watching TV, especially political programs (MSNBC). He also watched Joel Osteen (gospel) on Sundays. He enjoyed baking pies, going to the casino and spending time with family and friends. Eugene was a wonderful person and through the memories that he gave each of us, he will live forever in our hearts. Eugene Jordan leaves to cherish his loving memories, his loving wife, Bettye Jordan; two daughters, Tracy Jordan and Carla Jordan (Glen Neal); daughter-in-law, Theresa Graves-Jordan; two grandson, Michael Alexander and Kevin Jordan, Jr.; four granddaughters: Danielle Alexander, Kaela Jordan, Kier Jordan and Kiana Jordan; great-grandchildren, Myka and Bryar Alexander; siblings: Sandra Thurston (Maurice), Beverly Saunders (Wilfred), Laura Bolder, Thomas Jordan, and Richard Jordan (Cecilia); sister-in-law, Karen Davis-Smith; nephew, D. Smith; a dog, Golden Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral Service for Eugene Jordan will be held Thursday, December 21, 11:00 a.m. at Watkins Heritage Chapel, 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins Chapel. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery.
