Mrs. Ernestine G. Robinson

Ernestine Geneva Mae Robinson was born on July 8, 1943, in Haynes, Oklahoma to the union of the late Ernest Johnson and Rose Casey. She was the 5th of 11 children. Ernestine was a graduate from Carter G. Woodson Class of 1961. Immediately after graduating, she started her new life in Kansas City, Kansas, and stayed in Kansas City, Kansas until God called her home on April 27, 2025, at the age of 81. In 1963, Ernestine graduated from the Madam C.J. Walker School of beauty culture and has been a licensed cosmetologist for nearly six decades. Additionally, she did alternation and was a seamstress at Wolf Brother-Ward Parkway and worked at Unitas Business Clothing in alterations and as a sales clerk. In Ernestine’s early years as a cosmetologist. She attended seminars and conferences learning how to update her craft. She also taught upholstery and sewing at JFK. A notable accolade Ernestine received in her six-decade career was receiving Outstanding Business Woman of the Year from the American Business Women's Association in 1995. On June 20th, 1967, Ernestine gave birth to her only children, which was a daughter, Rostine Patterson-Webb whom the Lord called home on June 6, 2020. In 1978, she met the love of her life, Lilbert Robinson, whom she wed on March 21, 1981. Ernestine and Lilbert were blessed to have a forty-year marriage until Lilbert’s health declined and his passing on April 20, 2021. Ernestine loved the Lord and accepted Christ at a young age. Ernestine’s first Church home in Kansas City, Kansas was Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1972, under the leadership of Rev. M. E. Ford and the transition to Rev. Dr. C. L. Bachus, she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a faithful member for 53 years. She served in the Mass Choir, Kitchen Committee, Secretary for Sunday School Class No.4, and was a Youth Sponsor. In Ernestine’s free time, she loved to cook, be in her garden, travel, sew, play cards, watching her soap operas, westerns, and eating her favorite snacks (pork rinds, chocolate, ice cream, and a Frappuccino), and spend time with her family and friends. Ernestine was the life of the party. Ernestine was preceded in death by both parents; husband; two daughters; four brothers; and two sisters. Ernestine leaves to cherish her memory: one stepdaughter, Sylvia (Bill) McCallop of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Solomon; and Elizabeth Webb of the home; Claude (Courtney) Hawkins of Kansas City, Missouri; Anthony Hawkins of Kansas City, Missouri; four brothers, Albert Johnson of Kansas City, Kansas; Vernon Johnson of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Calvin (Charlotte) Jones of Owasso, Oklahoma; and Kenneth (Gloria) Lee of Houston; Texas; one sister-Alberta Eaton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sisters-in-law, Ladora (Richard) Jackson of Ottawa, Kansas; Prudence Robinson-Lee of Kansas City, Kansas; and Alice Moore of Kansas City, Kansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 417 Richmond Ave. KCKS 66101. Visitation 10a.m.-11:00 a.m. Interment: Chapel Hill Cemetery, KCKS.
