Obituary Ernestine Wenonah Farr Allen was born on November 14, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John R. Allen. Her parents Roba and Sadie Terry Farr. Her sisters and brother, Donna Farr Carter, Yvette Farr Bowler, Elizabeth Farr, and Charles Farr.Ernestine started her education at Bruce Elementary school, East High School and was a proud member of the Lincoln class of 1961. Ernestine always participated in after school activities, and enjoyed socializing with her classmates. She furthered her education after relocating to Des Plaines, IL in 1972 continuing her higher studies at Harper College.Her husband’s job brought them back to Overland Park, Kansas, for a few years before later taking them back to Illinois.Ernestine & John Allen invested in their North Lake Shore community. In 1990 with some of the best neighbors a family could ask for. Plus the monthly Bunco card games with the crazy eight dinner bunch. The North Shores neighborhoods were called Bunco babes.Ernestine soon joined St. John’s A. M. E. Methodist church in Springfield, IL where Reverend Patricia Herring is the pastor. Ernestine began serving in the hospitality committee volunteer-ing herself for funeral events, like working in the kitchen passing out meals to grieving fami-lies. She belonged to the Mary Louise Brown’s Missionary society as a class leader, as well as being apart of the James Weldon Johnson’s book club. There can’t be enough said about Ern-estine’s accomplishments.Ernestine started working at AT&T, Unocal Oil for over 15 years, and Saint John’s Hospital as an administrator, where she retired from. She also did volunteer work at the Lincoln in Spring-field, ILErnestine was a worldwide traveler. She went to Germany, Greece, France and Negril Jamaica to name a few, enjoying life with her three best friends Virginia Black, Irene, and Judy Conner. They enjoyed many laughs, and enjoyed glasses of with wine. She especially loved Aruba.Ernestine was a mother, wife, sister and generous dear friend to many. Her love and passion for the lord, was shown throughout her life.Ernestine leaves behind her two beloved children, Keith Marvel Allen and Kimilyn Yvette Allen. Three precious granddaughters, Janell Cortney Allen, Sibonne Koral Allen, and Janessa Camille Allen. Her sister, Olive Farr Anderson (Grandview, MO), and a brother William Farr (Denver, CO). Nieces, nephews, cousins, and soo soo many friends in Illinois and Missouri. Funeral Service will be held Friday February 18, 2022, 11:00am at Lawrence A. Jones Funeral Chapel. Interment Mt.
