Mr. Eric Petrie

Eric Toussaint Petrie, born October 25, 1957, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, entered eternal rest on April 6, 2026. He was the beloved son of Ester Ruth Cuneigan and Ernest Theodore Petrie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ernest Nathan Petrie, and his wife Linda Darlene Petrie, whom he married on May 19, 1978. His sister, Gail Allen, remains to cherish his memory. Eric was blessed to find love again and married Ramona Monique Petrie on September 24, 2018, who now lovingly carries his memory forward. Eric graduated from Northrop High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Development from Westminster College and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from William Woods University. His professional journey reflected his heart for service. He worked at the Missouri School for the Deaf, served as a Probation Officer, and later became a Special Education Teacher, a role he faithfully fulfilled until his passing. Eric was also an entrepreneur, establishing GBMS Cleaning Services and Fresh Start Cleaning Service, both built on his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Above all, his most cherished role was serving as pastor, a calling he embraced with devotion, humility, and love for God’s people. A man of deep faith, Eric gave his life to the Lord in 1977 and served faithfully in several ministries throughout the years. His commitment to God shaped his walk, his character, and the way he cared for others. In 1994, he followed God’s leading and founded God’s Creation Worship Center, where he served with dedication until taking a family sabbatical in 2014. He was known for his warm smile, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his ability to make others feel seen and valued. After the passing of his first wife, Eric rekindled his lifelong gift of art. He poured his heart into creating meaningful paintings for grieving families, children, and anyone in need of encouragement. His artwork became a ministry of comfort and hope, touching countless lives. Out of this passion, he founded EricPetrieArt, a creative expression of his faith, compassion, and desire to uplift others through his God‑given talent. Eric leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Ramona Monique Petrie; his children LaTonya Petrie‑Porter, Eric Anderson, Benjamin Petrie, Steven Petrie, and Antonio Petrie, along with Jarrell Vaughn, Porshae Webb, James Summers, Tyleah Summers, and Jaylin Summers. He is also survived by his sister Gail Allen, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 4 great‑grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. Eric’s legacy is one of faith, creativity, compassion, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his impact will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Funeral services Thursday, April 16, at 12:00pm at Evangel Church .
