Obituary Elizabeth Ann Rogers was born to the union of William and Belva Rogers on November 14, 1964 in Kansas City, KS. She was the youngest of nine children. At an early age Elizabeth demonstrated many mature lady-like qualities and affectionately became known as Lady Ann by her family. She was not just a little girl; she had wisdom beyond her years. She instinctively knew what do and when to do it, what to say and how to say it, she was a lady. Elizabeth was educated in the Kansas City School District and attended Wendell Phillips, Frances Willard, and graduated from Paseo High School in 1983. Elizabeth was resolute in her love and devotion to Christ. She was a product of her parents’ strong Christian influence. She received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at formerly Bethel Pentecostal Church (now the New Bethel Church) under pastorate of the late Pastor Rosie Summers. She served the Lord for the rest of her life, never wavering in her trust in his sovereignty. As of December 2019, she retired from 30 years of employment at the Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Services and received the Albert Gallatin Award for 20 years of loyal service. She developed life-long friendships with many of her co-workers. Elizabeth was also quick to offer free tax advice to her family. Elizabeth found much pleasure in shopping. She mastered discount shopping and was always willing to assist family members with finding the best deals, she was the family’s personal shopper. Her fun part-time jobs at Ventures, The Jones Store and Macy's helped feed everyone’s shopping habit for years. Elizabeth loved to get the Sunday’s Kansas City Star paper to investigate the sale ads and plan her shopping for the week. Her kindness and attentiveness to the needs of her family often lead her to call, text, or Snapchat family members with the updates on items she knew they could use and enjoy. She loved to shop for accessories and was always sharp at every occasion. Elizabeth was an active member of the New Bethel Church and served with gladness all her life in various positions. She worked diligently as an usher, choir member, sound engineer, greeter, juice governor; and the finance committee said she was the life of the party, her quick wit and nonsense humor kept them laughing. They always joked that she had the spirit of her father, Deacon Rogers. Elizabeth may not have been able to physically attend service during her illness, but rest assured she remain connected by attending Life Impact and Sunday services weekly via technology. She would raise her hands and somehow mustered the strength to get her favorite praise out of her mouth, “Hallelujah!” Elizabeth’s heart was always open and so was her home. When family members were displaced, she had a room at the “compound” available. It was a central meeting spot for the family. All holidays, essential gathers and celebrations were held at the “compound.” And while she was not an avid cook, Elizabeth somehow mastered Mother Salvina Walls' 7-up pound cake and anyone who had a slice would agree that it was a blessing. She loved word games, a hobby she inherited from her mother, and played for many hours on her phone daily. She was the queen of nicknames and probably gave you one you hated. While Elizabeth did not have children of her own, the title of an aunt was one she held with great appreciation and had a special connection with each one of her nieces and nephews. She was the best to ever do it. Elizabeth was proceeded in death by her parents, William and Belva Rogers, a brother, Wesley Darnell Rogers, and Godsons, Joe Powell and Noah Parker. She leaves to cherish her memory seven siblings: Essie M. Parker (Kansas City, MO), Oliver L. Rogers (Alta) (Kenosha,WI), Alfreda J. Releford (Albert) (Kansas City, MO), Mary Y. Burns (McKinley)(Kansas City, MO), Tony M. Rogers (Raytown, MO), Alice S. Arnold (Kansas City, MO), Maxine Y. Nickens (Anthony)(Kansas City, MO); Godchildren: Ja'Lisa Powell ( Surprise, AZ), Shay Loudermilk(Stuttgart, AR), and Logan Parker( Lee's Summit, MO); a host of nieces and nephews, two aunts: Mary Louise Truss (Surprise, AZ), and Betty Johnson( Raytown, MO), many cousins and friends.
