Elder Tesell Haynes

Obituary Elder Tesell Haynes was born to the union of Lillie & Lawrence Haynes on December 18, 1950. He was born in Columbia, Mississippi. He and his twin brother Mozell were the 3rd & 4th children to this union. Tesell was educated in the Chicago school system. He attended Englewood High School. From high school he left Chicago and joined the U. S. Navy in which he served for 4 years. After serving in the Navy, he moved to Detroit, MI and worked for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 2005. Tesell earned his master’s degree in psychology from Wayne State University. While in Detroit he met and married Geneva Diane Perdue and from this union one son was born, De’Armbri Tesell Haynes. This union lasted for 30+ years until Diane’s passing in 2013. Later in life Tesell reconnected with Sharon Durham, the mother of his eldest daughter. Tesell devoted much of his life to the service of ministry. He began serving under the leadership of Apostle Charles O. Miles at International Gospel Center in Ecorse, MI. Upon moving to Kansas City in 2007, he continued his devotion to ministry with World Harvest Ministries and Barker Memorial C.O.G.I.C. One of Tesell’s most notable pastimes was gardening. Each year he spent most of his time tending to his garden. He would always be sure to share the harvest of his garden with his loved ones. His generosity did not end with his harvest, it transcended into his everyday life. He was known as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed. Tesell thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, simply loving life, laughing and having a good time. He leaves to cherish his everlasting memories his 10 siblings; Gloria (Alonzo), Lawrence (Delores), Musa, Rosie, Larry (Devetta), Diane, Bobby (Ceylon), Edna (Craig), Linda (Tommy), Michael (Malikah). 2 daughters; Melvena and Tiffany (James). 1 son; De’Armbri. 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021, 1:30 pm at Barker Memorial Cathedral of Praise COGIC. Private Disposition. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm- 1:30 pm at the church.
