Obituary DuWayne Richard Sorrell son of the late Benjamin J. Sorrell Sr. and Iruka O. Hannon-Watford was born July 30, 1960 in Danville, Illinois. He attended the public schools of Danville, Illinois before moving to Chicago, Illinois and Brooklyn, New York. DuWayne worked for various Law Firms as a Paralegal in both Chicago Illinois and New York. He served within his Brooklyn New York community as a member of the Decatur Street Block Association, a Historical Preservation Consultant and Interior Designer on various projects. DuWayne was an advocate for foster children and the homeless, world traveler, avid reader and mentor to many. DuWayne leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and respect. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, all loved him, and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. DuWayne quietly departed this life surrounded by family on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his brother Benjamin and sister-in-law Riahuyiauh Sorrell’s home in Lees Summit, Missouri. DuWayne was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ernest and Roxie Sorrell, Maternal grandmother Lucy L. Hannon, father Benjamin J. Sorrell Sr., Aunt Elizabeth (Sorrell) Reynolds, brother Reginald Thurman and sister Karen K. Thurman. Uncles Edward Sorrell and Louis Hannon.
